19장
1 그 후에 암몬 자손의 왕 나하스가 죽고 그 아들이 대신하여 왕이 되니
1 Now after this Nahash the king of the Ammonites died, and his son reigned in his place.
2 다윗이 가로되 하눈의 아비 나하스가 전에 내게 은혜를 베풀었으니 이제 내가 그 아들 하눈에게 은혜를 베풀리라 하고 사자를 보내어 그 아비 죽은 것을 조상하게 하니라 다윗의 신복들이 암몬 자손의 땅에 이르러 하눈에게 나아가 조상하매
2 And David said,I will deal kindly with Hanun the son of Nahash, for his father dealt kindly with me.So David sent messengers to console him concerning his father. And David's servants came to the land of the Ammonites to Hanun to console him.
3 암몬 자손의 방백들이 하눈에게 고하되 왕은 다윗이 조문사를 보낸 것이 왕의 부친을 공경함인 줄로 여기시나이까 그 신복이 왕에게 나아온 것이 이 땅을 엿보고 탐지하여 함락시키고자 함이 아니니이까
3 But the princes of the Ammonites said to Hanun,Do you think, because David has sent comforters to you, that he is honoring your father? Have not his servants come to you to search and to overthrow and to spy out the land?
4 하눈이 이에 다윗의 신복들을 잡아 그 수염을 깎고 그 의복의 중동 볼기까지 자르고 돌려 보내매
4 So Hanun took David's servants and shaved them and cut off their garments in the middle, at their hips, and sent them away;
5 혹이 다윗에게 가서 그 사람들의 당한 일을 고하니라 그 사람들이 심히 부끄러워하므로 다윗이 저희를 맞으러 보내어 이르기를 너희는 수염이 자라기까지 여리고에 머물다가 돌아오라 하니라
5 and they departed. When David was told concerning the men, he sent messengers to meet them, for the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said,Remain at Jericho until your beards have grown and then return.
6 암몬 자손이 자기가 다윗에게 밉게 한줄 안지라 하눈이 암몬 자손으로 더불어 은 일천 달란트를 아람 나하라임과 아람마아가와 소바에 보내어 병거와 마병을 삯 내되
6 When the Ammonites saw that they had become a stench to David, Hanun and the Ammonites sent 1,000 talentsof silver to hire chariots and horsemenfrom Mesopotamia, from Aram-maacah, and fromZobah.
7 곧 병거 삼만 이천승과 마아가 왕과 그 백성을 삯 내었더니 저희가 와서 메드바 앞에 진 치매 암몬 자손이 그 모든 성읍으로 좇아 모여 와서 싸우려 한지라
7 They hired 32,000 chariots and the king of Maacah with his army, who came and encamped beforeMedeba. And the Ammonites were mustered from their cities and came to battle.
8 다윗이 듣고 요압과 용사의 온 무리를 보내었더니
8 When David heard of it, he sent Joab and all the army of the mighty men.
9 암몬 자손은 나와서 성문 앞에 진 치고 도우러 온 여러 왕은 따로 들에 있더라
9 And the Ammonites came out and drew up in battle array at the entrance of the city, and the kings who had come were by themselves in the open country.
10 요압이 앞 뒤에 친 적진을 보고 이스라엘 뺀 자 중에서 또 빼서 아람 사람을 대하여 진 치고
10 When Joab saw that the battle was set against him both in front and in the rear, he chose some of the best men of Israel and arrayed them against the Syrians.
11 그 남은 무리는 그 아우 아비새의 수하에 붙여 암몬 자손을 대하여 진 치게 하고
11 The rest of his men he put in the charge ofAbishai his brother, and they were arrayed against the Ammonites.
12 가로되 만일 아람 사람이 나보다 강하면 네가 나를 돕고 만일 암몬 자손이 너보다 강하면 내가 너를 도우리라
12 And he said,If the Syrians are too strong for me, then you shall help me, but if the Ammonites are too strong for you, then I will help you.
13 너는 담대하라 우리가 우리 백성과 우리 하나님의 성읍들을 위하여 담대히 하자 여호와께서 선히 여기시는 대로 행하시기를 원하노라 하고
13 Be strong, and let us use our strength for our people and for the cities of our God, and may theLorddo what seems good to him.
14 요압과 그 종자가 싸우려고 아람 사람 앞에 나아가니 저희가 그 앞에서 도망하고
14 So Joab and the people who were with him drew near before the Syrians for battle, and they fled before him.
15 암몬 자손은 아람 사람의 도망함을 보고 저희도 요압의 아우 아비새 앞에서 도망하여 성으로 들어간지라 이에 요압이 예루살렘으로 돌아오니라
15 And when the Ammonites saw that the Syrians fled, they likewise fled beforeAbishai, Joab's brother, and entered the city. Then Joab came to Jerusalem.
16 아람 사람이 자기가 이스라엘 앞에서 패하였음을 보고 사자를 보내어 강 건너편에 있는 아람 사람을 불러내니 하닷에셀의 군대 장관 소박이 저희를 거느린지라
16 But when the Syrians saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they sent messengers and brought out the Syrians who were beyond the Euphrates,withShophach the commander of the army ofHadadezer at their head.
17 혹이 다윗에게 고하매 다윗이 온 이스라엘을 모으고 요단을 건너 아람 사람에게 이르러 저희를 향하여 진을 치니라 다윗이 아람 사람을 향하여 진을 치매 저희가 다윗으로 더불어 싸우더니
17 And when it was told to David, he gathered all Israel together and crossed the Jordan and came to them and drew up his forces against them. And when David set the battle in array against the Syrians, they fought with him.
18 아람 사람이 이스라엘 앞에서 도망한지라 다윗이 아람 병거 칠천승의 군사와 보병 사만을 죽이고 또 군대 장관 소박을 죽이매
18 And the Syrians fled before Israel, and David killed of the Syrians the men of7,000 chariots and 40,000foot soldiers, and put to death alsoShophach the commander of their army.
19 하닷에셀의 신복이 자기가 이스라엘 앞에서 패하였음을 보고 다윗으로 더불어 화친하여 섬기고 이 후로는 아람 사람이 암몬 자손 돕기를 싫어하니라
19 And when the servants ofHadadezer saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they made peace with David and became subject to him. So the Syrians were not willing to save the Ammonites anymore.20장
1 해가 돌아와서 왕들의 출전할 때가 되매 요압이 그 군대를 거느리고 나가서 암몬 자손의 땅을 훼파하고 가서 랍바를 에워싸고 다윗은 예루살렘에 그대로 있더니 요압이 랍바를 쳐서 함락시키매
1 In the spring of the year, the time when kings go out to battle, Joab led out the army and ravaged the country of the Ammonites and came and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem. AndJoab struck down Rabbah and overthrew it.
2 다윗이 그 왕의 머리에서 보석 있는 면류관을 취하여 달아보니 중량이 금 한 달란트라 그 면류관을 자기 머리에 쓰니라 다윗이 또 그 성에서 노략한 물건을 무수히 내어오고
2 And David took the crown of their king from his head. He found that it weighed a talentof gold, and in it was a precious stone. And it was placed on David's head. And he brought out the spoil of the city, a very great amount.
3 그 가운데 백성을 끌어 내어 톱질과 써레질과 도끼질을 하게 하니라 다윗이 암몬 자손의 모든 성읍을 이같이 하고 모든 백성과 함께 예루살렘으로 돌아오니라
3 And he brought out the people who were in it and set them to laborwith saws and iron picks and axes.And thus David did to all the cities of the Ammonites. Then David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.
4 이 후에 블레셋 사람과 게셀에서 전쟁할 때에 후사 사람 십브개가 장대한 자의 아들 중에 십배를 쳐 죽이매 저희가 항복하였더라
4 And after this there arose war with the Philistines at Gezer. Then Sibbecai the Hushathite struck down Sippai, who was one of the descendants of the giants, and the Philistines were subdued.
5 다시 블레셋 사람과 전쟁할 때에 야일의 아들 엘하난이 가드 사람 골리앗의 아우 라흐미를 죽였는데 이 사람의 창자루는 베틀채 같았더라
5 And there was again war with the Philistines, and Elhanan the son ofJair struck down Lahmithe brother of Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.
6 또 가드에서 전쟁할 때에 그곳에 키 큰 자 하나는 매 손과 매 발에 가락이 여섯씩 모두 스물 넷이 있는데 저도 장대한 자의 소생이라
6 And there was again war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, who had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in number, and he also was descended from the giants.
7 저가 이스라엘을 능욕하는고로 다윗의 형 시므아의 아들 요나단이 저를 죽이니라
7 And when he taunted Israel, Jonathan the son ofShimea, David's brother, struck him down.
8 가드 장대한 자의 소생이라도 다윗의 손과 그 신복의 손에 다 죽었더라
8 These were descended from the giants in Gath, and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.로마서
3장
1 그런즉 유대인의 나음이 무엇이며 할례의 유익이 무엇이뇨
1 Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision?
2 범사에 많으니 첫째는 저희가 하나님의 말씀을 맡았음이니라
2 Much in every way. To begin with,the Jews were entrusted withthe oracles of God.
3 어떤 자들이 믿지 아니하였으면 어찌하리요 그 믿지 아니함이 하나님의 미쁘심을 폐하겠느뇨
3 What if some were unfaithful?Does their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God?
4 그럴 수 없느니라 사람은 다 거짓되되 오직 하나님은 참되시다 할찌어다 기록된바 주께서 주의 말씀에 의롭다 함을 얻으시고 판단 받으실 때에 이기려 하심이라 함과 같으니라
4 By no means!Let God be true thoughevery one were a liar, as it is written,That you may be justified in your words,and prevail when youare judged.
5 그러나 우리 불의가 하나님의 의를 드러나게 하면 무슨 말 하리요 내가 사람의 말하는대로 말하노니 진노를 내리시는 하나님이 불의하시냐
5 But if our unrighteousness serves to show the righteousness of God, what shall we say? That God is unrighteous to inflictwrath on us? (I speak in a human way.)
6 결코 그렇지 아니하니라 만일 그러하면 하나님께서 어찌 세상을 심판하시리요
6 By no means! For then how couldGod judge the world?
7 그러나 나의 거짓말로 하나님의 참되심이 더 풍성하여 그의 영광이 되었으면 어찌 나도 죄인처럼 심판을 받으리요
7 But if through my lie God's truth abounds to his glory,why am I still being condemned as a sinner?
8 또는 그러면 선을 이루기 위하여 악을 행하자 하지 않겠느냐 [어떤이들이 이렇게 비방하여 우리가 이런 말을 한다고 하니] 저희가 정죄 받는 것이 옳으니라
8 And why notdo evil that good may come?&emdash;as some people slanderously charge us with saying. Their condemnation is just.
9 그러면 어떠하뇨 우리는 나으뇨 결코 아니라 유대인이나 헬라인이나 다 죄 아래 있다고 우리가 이미 선언하였느니라
9 What then? Are we Jewsany better off?No, not at all. For we have already charged that all, bothJews andGreeks, areunder sin,
10 기록한바 의인은 없나니 하나도 없으며
10 as it is written:None is righteous, no, not one;
11 깨닫는 자도 없고 하나님을 찾는 자도 없고
11 no one understands;no one seeks for God.
12 다 치우쳐 한가지로 무익하게 되고 선을 행하는 자는 없나니 하나도 없도다
12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless;no one does good,not even one.
13 저희 목구멍은 열린 무덤이요 그 혀로는 속임을 베풀며 그 입술에는 독사의 독이 있고
13 Their throat isan open grave;they use their tongues to deceive.The venom of asps is under their lips.
14 그 입에는 저주와 악독이 가득하고
14 Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.
15 그 발은 피 흘리는데 빠른지라
15 Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16 파멸과 고생이 그 길에 있어
16 in their paths are ruin and misery,
17 평강의 길을 알지 못하였고
17 andthe way of peace they have not known.
18 저희 눈앞에 하나님을 두려워함이 없느니라 함과 같으니라
18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.
19 우리가 알거니와 무릇 율법이 말하는 바는 율법 아래 있는 자들에게 말하는 것이니 이는 모든 입을 막고 온 세상으로 하나님의 심판 아래 있게 하려 함이니라
19 Now we know that whateverthe law says it speaks to those who are under the law,so that every mouth may be stopped, andthe whole world may be held accountable to God.
20 그러므로 율법의 행위로 그의 앞에 의롭다 하심을 얻을 육체가 없나니 율법으로는 죄를 깨달음이니라
20 Forby works of the law no human beingwill be justified in his sight, sincethrough the law comes knowledge of sin.
