19장
1 유다 왕 여호사밧이 평안히 예루살렘에 돌아와서 그의 궁으로 들어가니라
1 Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned in safety to his house in Jerusalem.
2 하나니의 아들 선견자 예후가 나가서 여호사밧 왕을 맞아 이르되 왕이 악한 자를 돕고 여호와를 미워하는 자들을 사랑하는 것이 옳으니이까 그러므로 여호와께로부터 진노하심이 왕에게 임하리이다
2 ButJehu the son ofHananithe seer went out to meet him and said to King Jehoshaphat,Should youhelp the wicked and love those who hate theLord? Because of this,wrath has gone out against you from theLord.
3 그러나 왕에게 선한 일도 있으니 이는 왕이 아세라 목상들을 이 땅에서 없애고 마음을 기울여 하나님을 찾음이니이다 하였더라
3 Nevertheless,some good is found in you, foryou destroyed the Asheroth out of the land, and haveset your heart to seek God.
4 여호사밧이 예루살렘에 살더니 다시 나가서 브엘세바에서부터 에브라임 산지까지 민간에 두루 다니며 그들을 그들의 조상들의 하나님 여호와께로 돌아오게 하고
4 Jehoshaphat lived at Jerusalem. And he went out again among the people, from Beersheba tothe hill country of Ephraim, and brought them back to theLord, the God of their fathers.
5 또 유다 온 나라의 견고한 성읍에 재판관을 세우되 성읍마다 있게 하고
5 He appointedjudges in the land in allthe fortified cities of Judah, city by city,
6 재판관들에게 이르되 너희가 재판하는 것이 사람을 위하여 할 것인지 여호와를 위하여 할 것인지를 잘 살피라 너희가 재판할 때에 여호와께서 너희와 함께 하심이니라
6 and said to the judges,Consider what you do,for you judge not for man but for theLord. He is with you in giving judgment.
7 그런즉 너희는 여호와를 두려워하는 마음으로 삼가 행하라 우리의 하나님 여호와께서는 불의함도 없으시고 치우침도 없으시고 뇌물을 받는 일도 없으시니라 하니라
7 Now then, let the fear of theLordbe upon you. Be careful what you do, forthere is no injustice with theLordour God,or partiality or taking bribes.
8 여호사밧이 또 예루살렘에서 레위 사람들과 제사장들과 이스라엘 족장들 중에서 사람을 세워 여호와께 속한 일과 예루살렘 주민의 모든 송사를 재판하게 하고
8 Moreover, in Jerusalem Jehoshaphatappointed certain Levites and priests and heads of families of Israel,to give judgment for theLordand to decide disputed cases. They had their seat at Jerusalem.
9 그들에게 명령하여 이르되 너희는 진실과 성심을 다하여 여호와를 경외하라
9 And he charged them:Thus you shall do in the fear of theLord, in faithfulness,and with your whole heart:
10 어떤 성읍에 사는 너희 형제가 혹 피를 흘림이나 혹 율법이나 계명이나 율례나 규례로 말미암아 너희에게 와서 송사하거든 어떤 송사든지 그들에게 경고하여 여호와께 죄를 범하지 않게 하여 너희와 너희 형제에게 진노하심이 임하지 말게 하라 너희가 이렇게 행하면 죄가 없으리라
10 whenever a case comes to you from your brothers who live in their cities, concerning bloodshed, law or commandment, statutes or rules, then you shall warn them, that they may not incur guilt before theLordandwrath may not come upon you and your brothers. Thus you shall do, and you will not incur guilt.
11 여호와께 속한 모든 일에는 대제사장 아마랴가 너희를 다스리고 왕에게 속한 모든 일은 유다 지파의 어른 이스마엘의 아들 스바댜가 다스리고 레위 사람들은 너희 앞에 관리가 되리라 너희는 힘써 행하라 여호와께서 선한 자와 함께 하실지로다 하니라
11 And behold, Amariah the chief priest is over youin all matters of theLord; and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the governor of the house of Judah, in all the king's matters, and the Levites will serve you as officers.Deal courageously, and may theLordbe with the upright!20장
1 그 후에 모압 자손과 암몬 자손들이 마온 사람들과 함께 와서 여호사밧을 치고자 한지라
1 After thisthe Moabites and Ammonites, and with them some of the Meunites,came against Jehoshaphat for battle.
2 어떤 사람이 와서 여호사밧에게 전하여 이르되 큰 무리가 바다 저쪽 아람에서 왕을 치러 오는데 이제 하사손다말 곧 엔게디에 있나이다 하니
2 Some men came and told Jehoshaphat,A great multitude is coming against you from Edom,from beyond the sea; and, behold, they are inHazazon-tamar(that is,Engedi).
3 여호사밧이 두려워하여 여호와께로 낯을 향하여 간구하고 온 유다 백성에게 금식하라 공포하매
3 Then Jehoshaphat was afraid and set his faceto seek theLord, andproclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.
4 유다 사람이 여호와께 도우심을 구하려 하여 유다 모든 성읍에서 모여와서 여호와께 간구하더라
4 And Judah assembled to seek help from theLord; from all the cities of Judah they came to seek theLord.
5 여호사밧이 여호와의 전 새 뜰 앞에서 유다와 예루살렘의 회중 가운데 서서
5 And Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of theLord, before the new court,
6 이르되 우리 조상들의 하나님 여호와여 주는 하늘에서 하나님이 아니시니이까 이방 사람들의 모든 나라를 다스리지 아니하시나이까 주의 손에 권세와 능력이 있사오니 능히 주와 맞설 사람이 없나이다
6 and said,OLord, God of our fathers, are you notGod in heaven? Yourule over all the kingdoms of the nations.In your hand are power and might, so that none is able to withstand you.
7 우리 하나님이시여 전에 이 땅 주민을 주의 백성 이스라엘 앞에서 쫓아내시고 그 땅을 주께서 사랑하시는 아브라함의 자손에게 영원히 주지 아니하셨나이까
7 Did you not, our God,drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel, and give it forever to the descendants ofAbraham your friend?
8 그들이 이 땅에 살면서 주의 이름을 위하여 한 성소를 주를 위해 건축하고 이르기를
8 And they have lived in it and have built for you in it a sanctuary for your name, saying,
9 만일 재앙이나 난리나 견책이나 전염병이나 기근이 우리에게 임하면 주의 이름이 이 성전에 있으니 우리가 이 성전 앞과 주 앞에 서서 이 환난 가운데에서 주께 부르짖은즉 들으시고 구원하시리라 하였나이다
9 If disaster comes upon us, the sword, judgment,or pestilence, or famine,we will stand before this house and before you&emdash;for your name is in this house&emdash;and cry out to you in our affliction, and you will hear and save.
10 옛적에 이스라엘이 애굽 땅에서 나올 때에 암몬 자손과 모압 자손과 세일 산 사람들을 침노하기를 주께서 용납하지 아니하시므로 이에 돌이켜 그들을 떠나고 멸하지 아니하였거늘
10 And now behold, the men ofAmmon and Moab andMount Seir, whomyou would not let Israel invade when they came from the land of Egypt,and whom they avoided and did not destroy&emdash;
11 이제 그들이 우리에게 갚는 것을 보옵소서 그들이 와서 주께서 우리에게 주신 주의 기업에서 우리를 쫓아내고자 하나이다
11 behold, they reward usby coming to drive us out of your possession, which you have given us to inherit.
12 우리 하나님이여 그들을 징벌하지 아니하시나이까 우리를 치러 오는 이 큰 무리를 우리가 대적할 능력이 없고 어떻게 할 줄도 알지 못하옵고 오직 주만 바라보나이다 하고
12 O our God, will you notexecute judgment on them? For we are powerless against this great horde that is coming against us. We do not know what to do, butour eyes are on you.로마서
10장
14 그런즉 그들이 믿지 아니하는 이를 어찌 부르리요 듣지도 못한 이를 어찌 믿으리요 전파하는 자가 없이 어찌 들으리요
14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in himof whom they have never heard?And how are they to hearwithout someone preaching?
15 보내심을 받지 아니하였으면 어찌 전파하리요 기록된 바 아름답도다 좋은 소식을 전하는 자들의 발이여 함과 같으니라
15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written,How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!
16 그러나 그들이 다 복음을 순종하지 아니하였도다 이사야가 이르되 주여 우리가 전한 것을 누가 믿었나이까 하였으니
16 Butthey have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says,Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?
17 그러므로 믿음은 들음에서 나며 들음은 그리스도의 말씀으로 말미암았느니라
17 Sofaith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
18 그러나 내가 말하노니 그들이 듣지 아니하였느냐 그렇지 아니하니 그 소리가 온 땅에 퍼졌고 그 말씀이 땅 끝까지 이르렀도다 하였느니라
18 But I ask, have they not heard? Indeed they have, forTheir voice has gone outto all the earth,and their words to the ends of the world.
19 그러나 내가 말하노니 이스라엘이 알지 못하였느냐 먼저 모세가 이르되 내가 백성 아닌 자로써 너희를 시기하게 하며 미련한 백성으로써 너희를 노엽게 하리라 하였고
19 But I ask, did Israel not understand? First Moses says,I willmake you jealous of those who are not a nation;with afoolish nation I will make you angry.
20 이사야는 매우 담대하여 내가 나를 찾지 아니한 자들에게 찾은 바 되고 내게 묻지 아니한 자들에게 나타났노라 말하였고
20 Then Isaiah is so bold as to say,I have been found by those who did not seek me;I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me.
21 이스라엘에 대하여 이르되 순종하지 아니하고 거슬러 말하는 백성에게 내가 종일 내 손을 벌렸노라 하였느니라
21 But of Israel he says,All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.
