욥기
23장
1 욥이 대답하여 이르되
1 Then Job replied:
2 오늘도 내게 반항하는 마음과 근심이 있나니 내가 받는 재앙이 탄식보다 무거움이라
2 Even today my complaint is bitter; his hand is heavy in spite of my groaning.
3 내가 어찌하면 하나님을 발견하고 그의 처소에 나아가랴
3 If only I knew where to find him; if only I could go to his dwelling!
4 어찌하면 그 앞에서 내가 호소하며 변론할 말을 내 입에 채우고
4 I would state my case before him and fill my mouth with arguments.
5 내게 대답하시는 말씀을 내가 알며 내게 이르시는 것을 내가 깨달으랴
5 I would find out what he would answer me, and consider what he would say.
6 그가 큰 권능을 가지시고 나와 더불어 다투시겠느냐 아니로다 도리어 내 말을 들으시리라
6 Would he oppose me with great power? No, he would not press charges against me.
7 거기서는 정직한 자가 그와 변론할 수 있은즉 내가 심판자에게서 영원히 벗어나리라
7 There an upright man could present his case before him, and I would be delivered forever from my judge.
8 그런데 내가 앞으로 가도 그가 아니 계시고 뒤로 가도 보이지 아니하며
8 But if I go to the east, he is not there; if I go to the west, I do not find him.
9 그가 왼쪽에서 일하시나 내가 만날 수 없고 그가 오른쪽으로 돌이키시나 뵈올 수 없구나
9 When he is at work in the north, I do not see him; when he turns to the south, I catch no glimpse of him.
10 그러나 내가 가는 길을 그가 아시나니 그가 나를 단련하신 후에는 내가 순금 같이 되어 나오리라
10 But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.
11 내 발이 그의 걸음을 바로 따랐으며 내가 그의 길을 지켜 치우치지 아니하였고
11 My feet have closely followed his steps; I have kept to his way without turning aside.
12 내가 그의 입술의 명령을 어기지 아니하고 정한 음식보다 그의 입의 말씀을 귀히 여겼도다
12 I have not departed from the commands of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread.
13 그는 뜻이 일정하시니 누가 능히 돌이키랴 그의 마음에 하고자 하시는 것이면 그것을 행하시나니
13 But he stands alone, and who can oppose him? He does whatever he pleases.
14 그런즉 내게 작정하신 것을 이루실 것이라 이런 일이 그에게 많이 있느니라
14 He carries out his decree against me, and many such plans he still has in store.
15 그러므로 내가 그 앞에서 떨며 지각을 얻어 그를 두려워하리라
15 That is why I am terrified before him; when I think of all this, I fear him.
16 하나님이 나의 마음을 약하게 하시며 전능자가 나를 두렵게 하셨나니
16 God has made my heart faint; the Almighty has terrified me.
17 이는 내가 두려워하는 것이 어둠 때문이나 흑암이 내 얼굴을 가렸기 때문이 아니로다
17 Yet I am not silenced by the darkness, by the thick darkness that covers my face.24장1 어찌하여 전능자는 때를 정해 놓지 아니하셨는고 그를 아는 자들이 그의 날을 보지 못하는고
1 Why does the Almighty not set times for judgment? Why must those who know him look in vain for such days?
2 어떤 사람은 땅의 경계표를 옮기며 양 떼를 빼앗아 기르며
2 Men move boundary stones; they pasture flocks they have stolen.
3 고아의 나귀를 몰아 가며 과부의 소를 볼모 잡으며
3 They drive away the orphan`s donkey and take the widow`s ox in pledge.
4 가난한 자를 길에서 몰아내나니 세상에서 학대 받는 자가 다 스스로 숨는구나
4 They thrust the needy from the path and force all the poor of the land into hiding.
5 그들은 거친 광야의 들나귀 같아서 나가서 일하며 먹을 것을 부지런히 구하니 빈 들이 그들의 자식을 위하여 그에게 음식을 내는구나
5 Like wild donkeys in the desert, the poor go about their labor of foraging food; the wasteland provides food for their children.
6 밭에서 남의 꼴을 베며 악인이 남겨 둔 포도를 따며
6 They gather fodder in the fields and glean in the vineyards of the wicked.
7 의복이 없어 벗은 몸으로 밤을 지내며 추워도 덮을 것이 없으며
7 Lacking clothes, they spend the night naked; they have nothing to cover themselves in the cold.
8 산중에서 만난 소나기에 젖으며 가릴 것이 없어 바위를 안고 있느니라
8 They are drenched by mountain rains and hug the rocks for lack of shelter.
9 어떤 사람은 고아를 어머니의 품에서 빼앗으며 가난한 자의 옷을 볼모 잡으므로
9 The fatherless child is snatched from the breast; the infant of the poor is seized for a debt.
10 그들이 옷이 없어 벌거벗고 다니며 곡식 이삭을 나르나 굶주리고
10 Lacking clothes, they go about naked; they carry the sheaves, but still go hungry.
11 그 사람들의 담 사이에서 기름을 짜며 목말라 하면서 술 틀을 밟느니라
11 They crush olives among the terraces ; they tread the winepresses, yet suffer thirst.
12 성 중에서 죽어가는 사람들이 신음하며 상한 자가 부르짖으나 하나님이 그들의 참상을 보지 아니하시느니라
12 The groans of the dying rise from the city, and the souls of the wounded cry out for help. But God charges no one with wrongdoing.
13 또 광명을 배반하는 사람들은 이러하니 그들은 그 도리를 알지 못하며 그 길에 머물지 아니하는 자라
13 There are those who rebel against the light, who do not know its ways or stay in its paths.
14 사람을 죽이는 자는 밝을 때에 일어나서 학대 받는 자나 가난한 자를 죽이고 밤에는 도둑 같이 되며
14 When daylight is gone, the murderer rises up and kills the poor and needy; in the night he steals forth like a thief.
15 간음하는 자의 눈은 저물기를 바라며 아무 눈도 나를 보지 못하리라 하고 얼굴을 가리며
15 The eye of the adulterer watches for dusk; he thinks, `No eye will see me,` and he keeps his face concealed.
16 어둠을 틈타 집을 뚫는 자는 낮에는 잠그고 있으므로 광명을 알지 못하나니
16 In the dark, men break into houses, but by day they shut themselves in; they want nothing to do with the light.
17 그들은 아침을 죽음의 그늘 같이 여기니 죽음의 그늘의 두려움을 앎이니라
17 For all of them, deep darkness is their morning ; they make friends with the terrors of darkness.
18 그들은 물 위에 빨리 흘러가고 그들의 소유는 세상에서 저주를 받나니 그들이 다시는 포도원 길로 다니지 못할 것이라
18 Yet they are foam on the surface of the water; their portion of the land is cursed, so that no one goes to the vineyards.
19 가뭄과 더위가 눈 녹은 물을 곧 빼앗나니 스올이 범죄자에게도 그와 같이 하느니라
19 As heat and drought snatch away the melted snow, so the grave snatches away those who have sinned.
20 모태가 그를 잊어버리고 구더기가 그를 달게 먹을 것이라 그는 다시 기억되지 않을 것이니 불의가 나무처럼 꺾이리라
20 The womb forgets them, the worm feasts on them; evil men are no longer remembered but are broken like a tree.
21 그는 임신하지 못하는 여자를 박대하며 과부를 선대하지 아니하는도다
21 They prey on the barren and childless woman, and to the widow show no kindness.
22 그러나 하나님이 그의 능력으로 강포한 자들을 끌어내시나니 일어나는 자는 있어도 살아남을 확신은 없으리라
22 But God drags away the mighty by his power; though they become established, they have no assurance of life.
23 하나님은 그에게 평안을 주시며 지탱해 주시나 그들의 길을 살피시도다
23 He may let them rest in a feeling of security, but his eyes are on their ways.
24 그들은 잠깐 동안 높아졌다가 천대를 받을 것이며 잘려 모아진 곡식 이삭처럼 되리라
24 For a little while they are exalted, and then they are gone; they are brought low and gathered up like all others; they are cut off like heads of grain.
25 가령 그렇지 않을지라도 능히 내 말을 거짓되다고 지적하거나 내 말을 헛되게 만들 자 누구랴
25 If this is not so, who can prove me false and reduce my words to nothing?25장1 수아 사람 빌닷이 대답하여 이르되
1 Then Bildad the Shuhite replied:
2 하나님은 주권과 위엄을 가지셨고 높은 곳에서 화평을 베푸시느니라
2 Dominion and awe belong to God; he establishes order in the heights of heaven.
3 그의 군대를 어찌 계수할 수 있으랴 그가 비추는 광명을 받지 않은 자가 누구냐
3 Can his forces be numbered? Upon whom does his light not rise?
4 그런즉 하나님 앞에서 사람이 어찌 의롭다 하며 여자에게서 난 자가 어찌 깨끗하다 하랴
4 How then can a man be righteous before God? How can one born of woman be pure?
5 보라 그의 눈에는 달이라도 빛을 발하지 못하고 별도 빛나지 못하거든
5 If even the moon is not bright and the stars are not pure in his eyes,
6 하물며 구더기 같은 사람, 벌레 같은 인생이랴
6 how much less man, who is but a maggot-- a son of man, who is only a worm!"26장고린도후서
2장
1 내가 다시 근심으로 너희에게 나아가지 않기로 스스로 결단하였노니
1 So I made up my mind that I would not make another painful visit to you.
2 내가 너희를 근심하게 하면 나의 근심하게 한 자 밖에 나를 기쁘게 하는 자가 누구냐
2 For if I grieve you, who is left to make me glad but you whom I have grieved?
3 내가 이같이 쓴 것은 내가 갈 때에 마땅히 나를 기쁘게 할 자로부터 도리어 근심을 얻을까 염려함이요 또 너희 무리를 대하여 나의 기쁨이 너희 무리의 기쁨인줄 확신함이로라
3 I wrote as I did so that when I came I should not be distressed by those who ought to make me rejoice. I had confidence in all of you, that you would all share my joy.
4 내가 큰 환난과 애통한 마음이 있어 많은 눈물로 너희에게 썼노니 이는 너희로 근심하게 하려 한것이 아니요 오직 내가 너희를 향하여 넘치는 사랑이 있음을 너희로 알게 하려 함이라
4 For I wrote you out of great distress and anguish of heart and with many tears, not to grieve you but to let you know the depth of my love for you.
5 근심하게 한 자가 있었을찌라도 나를 근심하게 한것이 아니요 어느 정도 너희 무리를 근심하게 한것이니 어느 정도라 함은 내가 너무 심하게 하지 아니하려 함이라
5 If anyone has caused grief, he has not so much grieved me as he has grieved all of you, to some extent--not to put it too severely.
6 이러한 사람이 많은 사람에게서 벌 받은 것이 족하도다
6 The punishment inflicted on him by the majority is sufficient for him.
7 그런즉 너희는 차라리 저를 용서하고 위로할 것이니 저가 너무 많은 근심에 잠길까 두려워하노라
7 Now instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow.
8 그러므로 너희를 권하노니 사랑을 저희에게 나타내라
8 I urge you, therefore, to reaffirm your love for him.
9 너희가 범사에 순종하는지 그 증거를 알고자하여 내가 이것을 너희에게 썼노라
9 The reason I wrote you was to see if you would stand the test and be obedient in everything.
10 너희가 무슨 일이든지 뉘게 용서하면 나도 그리하고 내가 만일 용서한 일이 있으면 용서한 그것은 너희를 위하여 그리스도 앞에서 한 것이니
10 If you forgive anyone, I also forgive him. And what I have forgiven--if there was anything to forgive--I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake,
11 이는 우리로 사단에게 속지 않게 하려 함이라 우리가 그 궤계를 알지 못하는 바가 아니로라
11 in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.
