3:1-4:13
1 디베료 황제가 통치한 지 열다섯 해 곧 본디오 빌라도가 유대의 총독으로, 헤롯이 갈릴리의 분봉 왕으로, 그 동생 빌립이 이두래와 드라고닛 지방의 분봉 왕으로, 루사니아가 아빌레네의 분봉 왕으로,
1 In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar--when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and Traconitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene--
2 안나스와 가야바가 대제사장으로 있을 때에 하나님의 말씀이 빈 들에서 사가랴의 아들 요한에게 임한지라
2 during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the desert.
3 요한이 요단 강 부근 각처에 와서 죄 사함을 받게 하는 회개의 세례를 전파하니
3 He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
4 선지자 이사야의 책에 쓴 바 광야에서 외치는 자의 소리가 있어 이르되 너희는 주의 길을 준비하라 그의 오실 길을 곧게 하라
4 As is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: "A voice of one calling in the desert, `Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.
5 모든 골짜기가 메워지고 모든 산과 작은 산이 낮아지고 굽은 것이 곧아지고 험한 길이 평탄하여질 것이요
5 Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth.
6 모든 육체가 하나님의 구원하심을 보리라 함과 같으니라
6 And all mankind will see God`s salvation.` "
7 요한이 세례 받으러 나아오는 무리에게 이르되 독사의 자식들아 누가 너희에게 일러 장차 올 진노를 피하라 하더냐
7 John said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, "You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?
8 그러므로 회개에 합당한 열매를 맺고 속으로 아브라함이 우리 조상이라 말하지 말라 내가 너희에게 이르노니 하나님이 능히 이 돌들로도 아브라함의 자손이 되게 하시리라
8 Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, `We have Abraham as our father.` For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.
9 이미 도끼가 나무 뿌리에 놓였으니 좋은 열매 맺지 아니하는 나무마다 찍혀 불에 던져지리라
9 The axe is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire."
10 무리가 물어 이르되 그러면 우리가 무엇을 하리이까
10 What should we do then? the crowd asked.
11 대답하여 이르되 옷 두 벌 있는 자는 옷 없는 자에게 나눠 줄 것이요 먹을 것이 있는 자도 그렇게 할 것이니라 하고
11 John answered, "The man with two tunics should share with him who has none, and the one who has food should do the same."
12 세리들도 세례를 받고자 하여 와서 이르되 선생이여 우리는 무엇을 하리이까 하매
12 Tax collectors also came to be baptized. "Teacher," they asked, "what should we do?"
13 이르되 부과된 것 외에는 거두지 말라 하고
13 Don`t collect any more than you are required to, he told them.
14 군인들도 물어 이르되 우리는 무엇을 하리이까 하매 이르되 사람에게서 강탈하지 말며 거짓으로 고발하지 말고 받는 급료를 족한 줄로 알라 하니라
14 Then some soldiers asked him, "And what should we do?" He replied, "Don`t extort money and don`t accuse people falsely--be content with your pay."
15 백성들이 바라고 기다리므로 모든 사람들이 요한을 혹 그리스도신가 심중에 생각하니
15 The people were waiting expectantly and were all wondering in their hearts if John might possibly be the Christ.
16 요한이 모든 사람에게 대답하여 이르되 나는 물로 너희에게 세례를 베풀거니와 나보다 능력이 많으신 이가 오시나니 나는 그의 신발끈을 풀기도 감당하지 못하겠노라 그는 성령과 불로 너희에게 세례를 베푸실 것이요
16 John answered them all, "I baptize you with water. But one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
17 손에 키를 들고 자기의 타작 마당을 정하게 하사 알곡은 모아 곳간에 들이고 쭉정이는 꺼지지 않는 불에 태우시리라
17 His winnowing fork is in his hand to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."
18 또 그밖에 여러 가지로 권하여 백성에게 좋은 소식을 전하였으나
18 And with many other words John exhorted the people and preached the good news to them.
19 분봉 왕 헤롯은 그의 동생의 아내 헤로디아의 일과 또 자기가 행한 모든 악한 일로 말미암아 요한에게 책망을 받고
19 But when John rebuked Herod the tetrarch because of Herodias, his brother`s wife, and all the other evil things he had done,
20 그 위에 한 가지 악을 더하여 요한을 옥에 가두니라
20 Herod added this to them all: He locked John up in prison.
21 백성이 다 세례를 받을새 예수도 세례를 받으시고 기도하실 때에 하늘이 열리며
21 When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened
22 성령이 비둘기 같은 형체로 그의 위에 강림하시더니 하늘로부터 소리가 나기를 너는 내 사랑하는 아들이라 내가 너를 기뻐하노라 하시니라
22 and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased."
23 예수께서 가르치심을 시작하실 때에 삼십 세쯤 되시니라 사람들이 아는 대로는 요셉의 아들이니 요셉의 위는 헬리요
23 Now Jesus himself was about thirty years old when he began his ministry. He was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph, the son of Heli,
24 그 위는 맛닷이요 그 위는 레위요 그 위는 멜기요 그 위는 얀나요 그 위는 요셉이요
24 the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melki, the son of Jannai, the son of Joseph,
25 그 위는 맛다디아요 그 위는 아모스요 그 위는 나훔이요 그 위는 에슬리요 그 위는 낙개요
25 the son of Mattathias, the son of Amos, the son of Nahum, the son of Esli, the son of Naggai,
26 그 위는 마앗이요 그 위는 맛다디아요 그 위는 서머인이요 그 위는 요섹이요 그 위는 요다요
26 the son of Maath, the son of Mattathias, the son of Semein, the son of Josech, the son of Joda,
27 그 위는 요아난이요 그 위는 레사요 그 위는 스룹바벨이요 그 위는 스알디엘이요 그 위는 네리요
27 the son of Joanan, the son of Rhesa, the son of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, the son of Neri,

29 the son of Joshua, the son of Eliezer, the son of Jorim, the son of Matthat, the son of Levi,
30 그 위는 시므온이요 그 위는 유다요 그 위는 요셉이요 그 위는 요남이요 그 위는 엘리아김이요
30 the son of Simeon, the son of Judah, the son of Joseph, the son of Jonam, the son of Eliakim,
31 그 위는 멜레아요 그 위는 멘나요 그 위는 맛다다요 그 위는 나단이요 그 위는 다윗이요
31 the son of Melea, the son of Menna, the son of Mattatha, the son of Nathan, the son of David,
32 그 위는 이새요 그 위는 오벳이요 그 위는 보아스요 그 위는 살몬이요 그 위는 나손이요
32 the son of Jesse, the son of Obed, the son of Boaz, the son of Salmon, the son of Nahshon,
33 그 위는 아미나답이요 그 위는 아니요 그 위는 헤스론이요 그 위는 베레스요 그 위는 유다요
33 the son of Amminadab, the son of Ram, the son of Hezron, the son of Perez, the son of Judah,
34 그 위는 야곱이요 그 위는 이삭이요 그 위는 아브라함이요 그 위는 데라요 그 위는 나홀이요
34 the son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, the son of Terah, the son of Nahor,
35 그 위는 스룩이요 그 위는 르우요 그 위는 벨렉이요 그 위는 헤버요 그 위는 살라요
35 the son of Serug, the son of Reu, the son of Peleg, the son of Eber, the son of Shelah,
36 그 위는 가이난이요 그 위는 아박삿이요 그 위는 셈이요 그 위는 노아요 그 위는 레멕이요
36 the son of Cainan, the son of Arphaxad, the son of Shem, the son of Noah, the son of Lamech,
37 그 위는 므두셀라요 그 위는 에녹이요 그 위는 야렛이요 그 위는 마할랄렐이요 그 위는 가이난이요
37 the son of Methuselah, the son of Enoch, the son of Jared, the son of Mahalalel, the son of Kenan,
38 그 위는 에노스요 그 위는 셋이요 그 위는 아담이요 그 위는 하나님이시니라
38 the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.
4장
1 예수께서 성령의 충만함을 입어 요단 강에서 돌아오사 광야에서 사십 일 동안 성령에게 이끌리시며
1 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the desert,
2 마귀에게 시험을 받으시더라 이 모든 날에 아무 것도 잡수시지 아니하시니 날 수가 다하매 주리신지라
2 where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.
3 마귀가 이르되 네가 만일 하나님의 아들이어든 이 돌들에게 명하여 떡이 되게 하라
3 The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread."
4 예수께서 대답하시되 기록된 바 사람이 떡으로만 살 것이 아니라 하였느니라
4 Jesus answered, "It is written: `Man does not live on bread alone.`"
5 마귀가 또 예수를 이끌고 올라가서 순식간에 천하 만국을 보이며
5 The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world.
6 이르되 이 모든 권위와 그 영광을 내가 네게 주리라 이것은 내게 넘겨 준 것이므로 내가 원하는 자에게 주노라
6 And he said to him, "I will give you all their authority and splendor, for it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to.
7 그러므로 네가 만일 내게 절하면 다 네 것이 되리라
7 So if you worship me, it will all be yours."
8 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 기록된 바 주 너의 하나님께 경배하고 다만 그를 섬기라 하였느니라
8 Jesus answered, "It is written: `Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.`"
9 또 이끌고 예루살렘으로 가서 성전 꼭대기에 세우고 이르되 네가 만일 하나님의 아들이어든 여기서 뛰어내리라
9 The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. "If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down from here.
10 기록되었으되 하나님이 너를 위하여 그 사자들을 명하사 너를 지키게 하시리라 하였고
10 For it is written: " `He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully;
11 또한 그들이 손으로 너를 받들어 네 발이 돌에 부딪치지 않게 하시리라 하였느니라
11 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.`"
12 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 주 너의 하나님을 시험하지 말라 하였느니라
12 Jesus answered, "It says: `Do not put the Lord your God to the test.`"
13 마귀가 모든 시험을 다 한 후에 얼마 동안 떠나니라
13 When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.잠언 (Proverbs)
15:1-291 유순한 대답은 분노를 쉬게 하여도 과격한 말은 노를 격동하느니라
1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
2 지혜 있는 자의 혀는 지식을 선히 베풀고 미련한 자의 입은 미련한 것을 쏟느니라
2 The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly.
3 여호와의 눈은 어디서든지 악인과 선인을 감찰하시느니라
3 The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.
4 온순한 혀는 곧 생명 나무이지만 패역한 혀는 마음을 상하게 하느니라
4 The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.
5 아비의 훈계를 업신여기는 자는 미련한 자요 경계를 받는 자는 슬기를 얻을 자니라
5 A fool spurns his father`s discipline, but whoever heeds correction shows prudence.
6 의인의 집에는 많은 보물이 있어도 악인의 소득은 고통이 되느니라
6 The house of the righteous contains great treasure, but the income of the wicked brings them trouble.
7 지혜로운 자의 입술은 지식을 전파하여도 미련한 자의 마음은 정함이 없느니라
7 The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so the hearts of fools.
8 악인의 제사는 여호와께서 미워하셔도 정직한 자의 기도는 그가 기뻐하시느니라
8 The LORD detests the sacrifice of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases him.
9 악인의 길은 여호와께서 미워하셔도 공의를 따라가는 자는 그가 사랑하시느니라
9 The LORD detests the way of the wicked but he loves those who pursue righteousness.
10 도를 배반하는 자는 엄한 징계를 받을 것이요 견책을 싫어하는 자는 죽을 것이니라
10 Stern discipline awaits him who leaves the path; he who hates correction will die.
11 스올과 아바돈도 여호와의 앞에 드러나거든 하물며 사람의 마음이리요
11 Death and Destruction lie open before the LORD-- how much more the hearts of men!
12 거만한 자는 견책 받기를 좋아하지 아니하며 지혜 있는 자에게로 가지도 아니하느니라
12 A mocker resents correction; he will not consult the wise.
13 마음의 즐거움은 얼굴을 빛나게 하여도 마음의 근심은 심령을 상하게 하느니라
13 A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.
14 명철한 자의 마음은 지식을 요구하고 미련한 자의 입은 미련한 것을 즐기느니라
14 The discerning heart seeks knowledge, but the mouth of a fool feeds on folly.
15 고난 받는 자는 그 날이 다 험악하나 마음이 즐거운 자는 항상 잔치하느니라
15 All the days of the oppressed are wretched, but the cheerful heart has a continual feast.
16 가산이 적어도 여호와를 경외하는 것이 크게 부하고 번뇌하는 것보다 나으니라
16 Better a little with the fear of the LORD than great wealth with turmoil.
17 채소를 먹으며 서로 사랑하는 것이 살진 소를 먹으며 서로 미워하는 것보다 나으니라
17 Better a meal of vegetables where there is love than a fattened calf with hatred.
18 분을 쉽게 내는 자는 다툼을 일으켜도 노하기를 더디 하는 자는 시비를 그치게 하느니라
18 A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a patient man calms a quarrel.
19 게으른 자의 길은 가시 울타리 같으나 정직한 자의 길은 대로니라
19 The way of the sluggard is blocked with thorns, but the path of the upright is a highway.
20 지혜로운 아들은 아비를 즐겁게 하여도 미련한 자는 어미를 업신여기느니라
20 A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish man despises his mother.
21 무지한 자는 미련한 것을 즐겨 하여도 명철한 자는 그 길을 바르게 하느니라
21 Folly delights a man who lacks judgment, but a man of understanding keeps a straight course.
22 의논이 없으면 경영이 무너지고 지략이 많으면 경영이 성립하느니라
22 Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.
23 사람은 그 입의 대답으로 말미암아 기쁨을 얻나니 때에 맞는 말이 얼마나 아름다운고
23 A man finds joy in giving an apt reply-- and how good is a timely word!
24 지혜로운 자는 위로 향한 생명 길로 말미암음으로 그 아래에 있는 스올을 떠나게 되느니라
24 The path of life leads upward for the wise to keep him from going down to the grave.
25 여호와는 교만한 자의 집을 허시며 과부의 지계를 정하시느니라
25 The LORD tears down the proud man`s house but he keeps the widow`s boundaries intact.
26 악한 꾀는 여호와께서 미워하시나 선한 말은 정결하니라
26 The LORD detests the thoughts of the wicked, but those of the pure are pleasing to him.
27 이익을 탐하는 자는 자기 집을 해롭게 하나 뇌물을 싫어하는 자는 살게 되느니라
27 A greedy man brings trouble to his family, but he who hates bribes will live.
28 의인의 마음은 대답할 말을 깊이 생각하여도 악인의 입은 악을 쏟느니라
28 The heart of the righteous weighs its answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil.
29 여호와는 악인을 멀리 하시고 의인의 기도를 들으시느니라
29 The LORD is far from the wicked but he hears the prayer of the righteous.
