예레미야
37장
1 요시야의 아들 시드기야가 여호야김의 아들 고니야의 뒤를 이어 왕이 되었으니 이는 바벨론의 느부갓네살 왕이 그를 유다 땅의 왕으로 삼음이었더라
1 Zedekiah son of Josiah was made king of Judah by Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; he reigned in place of Jehoiachin son of Jehoiakim.
2 그와 그의 신하와 그의 땅 백성이 여호와께서 선지자 예레미야에게 하신 말씀을 듣지 아니하니라
2 Neither he nor his attendants nor the people of the land paid any attention to the words the LORD had spoken through Jeremiah the prophet.
3 시드기야 왕이 셀레먀의 아들 여후갈과 마아세야의 아들 제사장 스바냐를 선지자 예레미야에게 보내 청하되 너는 우리를 위하여 우리 하나님 여호와께 기도하라 하였으니
3 King Zedekiah, however, sent Jehucal son of Shelemiah with the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah to Jeremiah the prophet with this message: "Please pray to the LORD our God for us."
4 그 때에 예레미야가 갇히지 아니하였으므로 백성 가운데 출입하는 중이었더라
4 Now Jeremiah was free to come and go among the people, for he had not yet been put in prison.
5 바로의 군대가 애굽에서 나오매 예루살렘을 에워쌌던 갈대아인이 그 소문을 듣고 예루살렘에서 떠났더라
5 Pharaoh`s army had marched out of Egypt, and when the Babylonians who were besieging Jerusalem heard the report about them, they withdrew from Jerusalem.
6 여호와의 말씀이 선지자 예레미야에게 임하여 이르시되
6 Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet:
7 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 너희를 보내어 내게 구하게 한 유다의 왕에게 아뢰라 너희를 도우려고 나왔던 바로의 군대는 자기 땅 애굽으로 돌아가겠고
7 This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Tell the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of me, `Pharaoh`s army, which has marched out to support you, will go back to its own land, to Egypt.
8 갈대아인이 다시 와서 이 성을 쳐서 빼앗아 불사르리라
8 Then the Babylonians will return and attack this city; they will capture it and burn it down.`
9 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 너희는 스스로 속여 말하기를 갈대아인이 반드시 우리를 떠나리라 하지 말라 그들이 떠나지 아니하리라
9 This is what the LORD says: Do not deceive yourselves, thinking, `The Babylonians will surely leave us.` They will not!
10 가령 너희가 너희를 치는 갈대아인의 온 군대를 쳐서 그 중에 부상자만 남긴다 할지라도 그들이 각기 장막에서 일어나 이 성을 불사르리라
10 Even if you were to defeat the entire Babylonian army that is attacking you and only wounded men were left in their tents, they would come out and burn this city down."
11 갈대아인의 군대가 바로의 군대를 두려워하여 예루살렘에서 떠나매
11 After the Babylonian army had withdrawn from Jerusalem because of Pharaoh`s army,
12 예레미야가 베냐민 땅에서 백성 가운데 분깃을 받으려고 예루살렘을 떠나 그리로 가려 하여
12 Jeremiah started to leave the city to go to the territory of Benjamin to get his share of the property among the people there.
13 베냐민 문에 이른즉 하나냐의 손자요 셀레먀의 아들인 이리야라 이름하는 문지기의 우두머리가 선지자 예레미야를 붙잡아 이르되 네가 갈대아인에게 항복하려 하는도다
13 But when he reached the Benjamin Gate, the captain of the guard, whose name was Irijah son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah, arrested him and said, "You are deserting to the Babylonians!"
14 예레미야가 이르되 거짓이다 나는 갈대아인에게 항복하려 하지 아니하노라 이리야가 듣지 아니하고 예레미야를 잡아 고관들에게로 끌어 가매
14 That`s not true! Jeremiah said. "I am not deserting to the Babylonians." But Irijah would not listen to him; instead, he arrested Jeremiah and brought him to the officials.
15 고관들이 노여워하여 예레미야를 때려서 서기관 요나단의 집에 가두었으니 이는 그들이 이 집을 옥으로 삼았음이더라
15 They were angry with Jeremiah and had him beaten and imprisoned in the house of Jonathan the secretary, which they had made into a prison.
16 예레미야가 뚜껑 씌운 웅덩이에 들어간 지 여러 날 만에
16 Jeremiah was put into a vaulted cell in a dungeon, where he remained a long time.
17 시드기야 왕이 사람을 보내어 그를 이끌어내고 왕궁에서 그에게 비밀히 물어 이르되 여호와께로부터 받은 말씀이 있느냐 예레미야가 대답하되 있나이다 또 이르되 왕이 바벨론의 왕의 손에 넘겨지리이다
17 Then King Zedekiah sent for him and had him brought to the palace, where he asked him privately, "Is there any word from the LORD ?" "Yes," Jeremiah replied, "you will be handed over to the king of Babylon."
18 예레미야가 다시 시드기야 왕에게 이르되 내가 왕에게나 왕의 신하에게나 이 백성에게 무슨 죄를 범하였기에 나를 옥에 가두었나이까
18 Then Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, "What crime have I committed against you or your officials or this people, that you have put me in prison?
19 바벨론의 왕이 와서 왕과 이 땅을 치지 아니하리라고 예언한 왕의 선지자들이 이제 어디 있나이까
19 Where are your prophets who prophesied to you, `The king of Babylon will not attack you or this land`?
20 내 주 왕이여 이제 청하건대 내게 들으시며 나의 탄원을 받으사 나를 서기관 요나단의 집으로 돌려보내지 마옵소서 내가 거기에서 죽을까 두려워하나이다
20 But now, my lord the king, please listen. Let me bring my petition before you: Do not send me back to the house of Jonathan the secretary, or I will die there."
21 이에 시드기야 왕이 명령하여 예레미야를 감옥 뜰에 두고 떡 만드는 자의 거리에서 매일 떡 한 개씩 그에게 주게 하매 성중에 떡이 떨어질 때까지 이르니라 예레미야가 감옥 뜰에 머무니라
21 King Zedekiah then gave orders for Jeremiah to be placed in the courtyard of the guard and given bread from the street of the bakers each day until all the bread in the city was gone. So Jeremiah remained in the courtyard of the guard.38장1 맛단의 아들 스바댜와 바스훌의 아들 그다랴와 셀레먀의 아들 유갈과 말기야의 아들 바스훌이 예레미야가 모든 백성에게 이르는 말을 들은즉 이르기를
1 Shephatiah son of Mattan, Gedaliah son of Pashhur, Jehucal son of Shelemiah, and Pashhur son of Malkijah heard what Jeremiah was telling all the people when he said,
2 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되 이 성에 머무는 자는 칼과 기근과 전염병에 죽으리라 그러나 갈대아인에게 항복하는 자는 살리니 그는 노략물을 얻음 같이 자기의 목숨을 건지리라
2 This is what the LORD says: `Whoever stays in this city will die by the sword, famine or plague, but whoever goes over to the Babylonians will live. He will escape with his life; he will live.`
3 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 이 성이 반드시 바벨론의 왕의 군대의 손에 넘어가리니 그가 차지하리라 하셨다 하는지라
3 And this is what the LORD says: `This city will certainly be handed over to the army of the king of Babylon, who will capture it.` "
4 이에 그 고관들이 왕께 아뢰되 이 사람이 백성의 평안을 구하지 아니하고 재난을 구하오니 청하건대 이 사람을 죽이소서 그가 이같이 말하여 이 성에 남은 군사의 손과 모든 백성의 손을 약하게 하나이다
4 Then the officials said to the king, "This man should be put to death. He is discouraging the soldiers who are left in this city, as well as all the people, by the things he is saying to them. This man is not seeking the good of these people but their ruin."
5 시드기야 왕이 이르되 보라 그가 너희 손 안에 있느니라 왕은 조금도 너희를 거스를 수 없느니라 하는지라
5 He is in your hands, King Zedekiah answered. "The king can do nothing to oppose you."
6 그들이 예레미야를 끌어다가 감옥 뜰에 있는 왕의 아들 말기야의 구덩이에 던져 넣을 때에 예레미야를 줄로 달아내렸는데 그 구덩이에는 물이 없고 진창뿐이므로 예레미야가 진창 속에 빠졌더라
6 So they took Jeremiah and put him into the cistern of Malkijah, the king`s son, which was in the courtyard of the guard. They lowered Jeremiah by ropes into the cistern; it had no water in it, only mud, and Jeremiah sank down into the mud.
7 왕궁 내시 구스인 에벳멜렉이 그들이 예레미야를 구덩이에 던져 넣었음을 들으니라 그 때에 왕이 베냐민 문에 앉았더니
7 But Ebed-Melech, a Cushite, an official in the royal palace, heard that they had put Jeremiah into the cistern. While the king was sitting in the Benjamin Gate,
8 에벳멜렉이 왕궁에서 나와 왕께 아뢰어 이르되
8 Ebed-Melech went out of the palace and said to him,
9 내 주 왕이여 저 사람들이 선지자 예레미야에게 행한 모든 일은 악하니이다 성 중에 떡이 떨어졌거늘 그들이 그를 구덩이에 던져 넣었으니 그가 거기에서 굶어 죽으리이다 하니
9 My lord the king, these men have acted wickedly in all they have done to Jeremiah the prophet. They have thrown him into a cistern, where he will starve to death when there is no longer any bread in the city.
10 왕이 구스 사람 에벳멜렉에게 명령하여 이르되 너는 여기서 삼십 명을 데리고 가서 선지자 예레미야가 죽기 전에 그를 구덩이에서 끌어내라
10 Then the king commanded Ebed-Melech the Cushite, "Take thirty men from here with you and lift Jeremiah the prophet out of the cistern before he dies."
11 에벳멜렉이 사람들을 데리고 왕궁 곳간 밑 방에 들어가서 거기에서 헝겊과 낡은 옷을 가져다가 그것을 구덩이에 있는 예레미야에게 밧줄로 내리며
11 So Ebed-Melech took the men with him and went to a room under the treasury in the palace. He took some old rags and worn-out clothes from there and let them down with ropes to Jeremiah in the cistern.
12 구스인 에벳멜렉이 예레미야에게 이르되 당신은 이 헝겊과 낡은 옷을 당신의 겨드랑이에 대고 줄을 그 아래에 대시오 예레미야가 그대로 하매
12 Ebed-Melech the Cushite said to Jeremiah, "Put these old rags and worn-out clothes under your arms to pad the ropes." Jeremiah did so,
13 그들이 줄로 예레미야를 구덩이에서 끌어낸지라 예레미야가 시위대 뜰에 머무니라
13 and they pulled him up with the ropes and lifted him out of the cistern. And Jeremiah remained in the courtyard of the guard.디모데전서
6장
1 무릇 멍에 아래에 있는 종들은 자기 상전들을 범사에 마땅히 공경할 자로 알지니 이는 하나님의 이름과 교훈으로 비방을 받지 않게 하려 함이라
1 All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God`s name and our teaching may not be slandered.
2 믿는 상전이 있는 자들은 그 상전을 형제라고 가볍게 여기지 말고 더 잘 섬기게 하라 이는 유익을 받는 자들이 믿는 자요 사랑을 받는 자임이라 너는 이것들을 가르치고 권하라
2 Those who have believing masters are not to show less respect for them because they are brothers. Instead, they are to serve them even better, because those who benefit from their service are believers, and dear to them. These are the things you are to teach and urge on them.
3 누구든지 다른 교훈을 하며 바른 말 곧 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 말씀과 경건에 관한 교훈을 따르지 아니하면
3 If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching,
4 그는 교만하여 아무 것도 알지 못하고 변론과 언쟁을 좋아하는 자니 이로써 투기와 분쟁과 비방과 악한 생각이 나며
4 he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions
5 마음이 부패하여지고 진리를 잃어 버려 경건을 이익의 방도로 생각하는 자들의 다툼이 일어나느니라
5 and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.
6 그러나 자족하는 마음이 있으면 경건은 큰 이익이 되느니라
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7 우리가 세상에 아무 것도 가지고 온 것이 없으매 또한 아무 것도 가지고 가지 못하리니
7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.
8 우리가 먹을 것과 입을 것이 있은즉 족한 줄로 알 것이니라
8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.
9 부하려 하는 자들은 시험과 올무와 여러 가지 어리석고 해로운 욕심에 떨어지나니 곧 사람으로 파멸과 멸망에 빠지게 하는 것이라
9 People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.
10 돈을 사랑함이 일만 악의 뿌리가 되나니 이것을 탐내는 자들은 미혹을 받아 믿음에서 떠나 많은 근심으로써 자기를 찔렀도다
10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
