사사기
9장
1 여룹바알의 아들 아비멜렉이 세겜에 가서 그의 어머니의 형제에게 이르러 그들과 그의 외조부의 집의 온 가족에게 말하여 이르되
1 Abimelech son of Jerub-Baal went to his mother`s brothers in Shechem and said to them and to all his mother`s clan,
2 청하노니 너희는 세겜의 모든 사람들의 귀에 말하라 여룹바알의 아들 칠십 명이 다 너희를 다스림과 한 사람이 너희를 다스림이 어느 것이 너희에게 나으냐 또 나는 너희와 골육임을 기억하라 하니
2 Ask all the citizens of Shechem, `Which is better for you: to have all seventy of Jerub-Baal`s sons rule over you, or just one man?` Remember, I am your flesh and blood.
3 그의 어머니의 형제들이 그를 위하여 이 모든 말을 세겜의 모든 사람들의 귀에 말하매 그들의 마음이 아비멜렉에게로 기울어서 이르기를 그는 우리 형제라 하고
3 When the brothers repeated all this to the citizens of Shechem, they were inclined to follow Abimelech, for they said, "He is our brother."
4 바알브릿 신전에서 은 칠십 개를 내어 그에게 주매 아비멜렉이 그것으로 방탕하고 경박한 사람들을 사서 자기를 따르게 하고
4 They gave him seventy shekels of silver from the temple of Baal-Berith, and Abimelech used it to hire reckless adventurers, who became his followers.
5 오브라에 있는 그의 아버지의 집으로 가서 여룹바알의 아들 곧 자기 형제 칠십 명을 한 바위 위에서 죽였으되 다만 여룹바알의 막내 아들 요담은 스스로 숨었으므로 남으니라
5 He went to his father`s home in Ophrah and on one stone murdered his seventy brothers, the sons of Jerub-Baal. But Jotham, the youngest son of Jerub-Baal, escaped by hiding.
6 세겜의 모든 사람과 밀로 모든 족속이 모여서 세겜에 있는 상수리나무 기둥 곁에서 아비멜렉을 왕으로 삼으니라
6 Then all the citizens of Shechem and Beth Millo gathered beside the great tree at the pillar in Shechem to crown Abimelech king.
7 사람들이 요담에게 그 일을 알리매 요담이 그리심 산 꼭대기로 가서 서서 그의 목소리를 높여 그들에게 외쳐 이르되 세겜 사람들아 내 말을 들으라 그리하여야 하나님이 너희의 말을 들으시리라
7 When Jotham was told about this, he climbed up on the top of Mount Gerizim and shouted to them, "Listen to me, citizens of Shechem, so that God may listen to you.
8 하루는 나무들이 나가서 기름을 부어 자신들 위에 왕으로 삼으려 하여 감람나무에게 이르되 너는 우리 위에 왕이 되라 하매
8 One day the trees went out to anoint a king for themselves. They said to the olive tree, `Be our king.`
9 감람나무가 그들에게 이르되 내게 있는 나의 기름은 하나님과 사람을 영화롭게 하나니 내가 어찌 그것을 버리고 가서 나무들 위에 우쭐대리요 한지라
9 But the olive tree answered, `Should I give up my oil, by which both gods and men are honored, to hold sway over the trees?`
10 나무들이 또 무화과나무에게 이르되 너는 와서 우리 위에 왕이 되라 하매
10 Next, the trees said to the fig tree, `Come and be our king.`
11 무화과나무가 그들에게 이르되 나의 단 것과 나의 아름다운 열매를 내가 어찌 버리고 가서 나무들 위에 우쭐대리요 한지라
11 But the fig tree replied, `Should I give up my fruit, so good and sweet, to hold sway over the trees?`
12 나무들이 또 포도나무에게 이르되 너는 와서 우리 위에 왕이 되라 하매
12 Then the trees said to the vine, `Come and be our king.`
13 포도나무가 그들에게 이르되 하나님과 사람을 기쁘게 하는 내 포도주를 내가 어찌 버리고 가서 나무들 위에 우쭐대리요 한지라
13 But the vine answered, `Should I give up my wine, which cheers both gods and men, to hold sway over the trees?`
14 이에 모든 나무가 가시나무에게 이르되 너는 와서 우리 위에 왕이 되라 하매
14 Finally all the trees said to the thornbush, `Come and be our king.`
15 가시나무가 나무들에게 이르되 만일 너희가 참으로 내게 기름을 부어 너희 위에 왕으로 삼겠거든 와서 내 그늘에 피하라 그리하지 아니하면 불이 가시나무에서 나와서 레바논의 백향목을 사를 것이니라 하였느니라
15 The thornbush said to the trees, `If you really want to anoint me king over you, come and take refuge in my shade; but if not, then let fire come out of the thornbush and consume the cedars of Lebanon!`
16 이제 너희가 아비멜렉을 세워 왕으로 삼았으니 너희가 행한 것이 과연 진실하고 의로우냐 이것이 여룹바알과 그의 집을 선대함이냐 이것이 그의 손이 행한 대로 그에게 보답함이냐
16 Now if you have acted honorably and in good faith when you made Abimelech king, and if you have been fair to Jerub-Baal and his family, and if you have treated him as he deserves-
17 우리 아버지가 전에 죽음을 무릅쓰고 너희를 위하여 싸워 미디안의 손에서 너희를 건져냈거늘
17 and to think that my father fought for you, risked his life to rescue you from the hand of Midian
18 너희가 오늘 일어나 우리 아버지의 집을 쳐서 그의 아들 칠십 명을 한 바위 위에서 죽이고 그의 여종의 아들 아비멜렉이 너희 형제가 된다고 그를 세워 세겜 사람들 위에 왕으로 삼았도다
18 (but today you have revolted against my father`s family, murdered his seventy sons on a single stone, and made Abimelech, the son of his slave girl, king over the citizens of Shechem because he is your brother)-
19 만일 너희가 오늘 여룹바알과 그의 집을 대접한 것이 진실하고 의로운 일이면 너희가 아비멜렉으로 말미암아 기뻐할 것이요 아비멜렉도 너희로 말미암아 기뻐하려니와
19 if then you have acted honorably and in good faith toward Jerub-Baal and his family today, may Abimelech be your joy, and may you be his, too!
20 그렇지 아니하면 아비멜렉에게서 불이 나와서 세겜 사람들과 밀로의 집을 사를 것이요 세겜 사람들과 밀로의 집에서도 불이 나와 아비멜렉을 사를 것이니라 하고
20 But if you have not, let fire come out from Abimelech and consume you, citizens of Shechem and Beth Millo, and let fire come out from you, citizens of Shechem and Beth Millo, and consume Abimelech!"
21 요담이 그의 형제 아비멜렉 앞에서 도망하여 피해서 브엘로 가서 거기에 거주하니라
21 Then Jotham fled, escaping to Beer, and he lived there because he was afraid of his brother Abimelech.
22 아비멜렉이 이스라엘을 다스린 지 삼 년에
22 After Abimelech had governed Israel three years,
23 하나님이 아비멜렉과 세겜 사람들 사이에 악한 영을 보내시매 세겜 사람들이 아비멜렉을 배반하였으니
23 God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the citizens of Shechem, who acted treacherously against Abimelech.
24 이는 여룹바알의 아들 칠십 명에게 저지른 포학한 일을 갚되 그들을 죽여 피 흘린 죄를 그들의 형제 아비멜렉과 아비멜렉의 손을 도와 그의 형제들을 죽이게 한 세겜 사람들에게로 돌아가게 하심이라
24 God did this in order that the crime against Jerub-Baal`s seventy sons, the shedding of their blood, might be avenged on their brother Abimelech and on the citizens of Shechem, who had helped him murder his brothers.
25 세겜 사람들이 산들의 꼭대기에 사람을 매복시켜 아비멜렉을 엿보게 하고 그 길로 지나는 모든 자를 다 강탈하게 하니 어떤 사람이 그것을 아비멜렉에게 알리니라
25 In opposition to him these citizens of Shechem set men on the hilltops to ambush and rob everyone who passed by, and this was reported to Abimelech.누가복음
23장
13 빌라도가 대제사장들과 관리들과 백성을 불러 모으고
13 Pilate called together the chief priests, the rulers and the people,
14 이르되 너희가 이 사람이 백성을 미혹하는 자라 하여 내게 끌고 왔도다 보라 내가 너희 앞에서 심문하였으되 너희가 고발하는 일에 대하여 이 사람에게서 죄를 찾지 못하였고
14 and said to them, "You brought me this man as one who was inciting the people to rebellion. I have examined him in your presence and have found no basis for your charges against him.
15 헤롯이 또한 그렇게 하여 그를 우리에게 도로 보내었도다 보라 그가 행한 일에는 죽일 일이 없느니라
15 Neither has Herod, for he sent him back to us; as you can see, he has done nothing to deserve death.
16 그러므로 때려서 놓겠노라
16 Therefore, I will punish him and then release him."
17 (없음)

18 무리가 일제히 소리 질러 이르되 이 사람을 없이하고 바라바를 우리에게 놓아 주소서 하니
18 With one voice they cried out, "Away with this man! Release Barabbas to us!"
19 이 바라바는 성중에서 일어난 민란과 살인으로 말미암아 옥에 갇힌 자러라
19 (Barabbas had been thrown into prison for an insurrection in the city, and for murder.)
20 빌라도는 예수를 놓고자 하여 다시 그들에게 말하되
20 Wanting to release Jesus, Pilate appealed to them again.
21 그들은 소리 질러 이르되 그를 십자가에 못 박게 하소서 십자가에 못 박게 하소서 하는지라
21 But they kept shouting, "Crucify him! Crucify him!"
22 빌라도가 세 번째 말하되 이 사람이 무슨 악한 일을 하였느냐 나는 그에게서 죽일 죄를 찾지 못하였나니 때려서 놓으리라 하니
22 For the third time he spoke to them: "Why? What crime has this man committed? I have found in him no grounds for the death penalty. Therefore I will have him punished and then release him."
23 그들이 큰 소리로 재촉하여 십자가에 못 박기를 구하니 그들의 소리가 이긴지라
23 But with loud shouts they insistently demanded that he be crucified, and their shouts prevailed.
24 이에 빌라도가 그들이 구하는 대로 하기를 언도하고
24 So Pilate decided to grant their demand.
25 그들이 요구하는 자 곧 민란과 살인으로 말미암아 옥에 갇힌 자를 놓아 주고 예수는 넘겨 주어 그들의 뜻대로 하게 하니라
25 He released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, the one they asked for, and surrendered Jesus to their will.
