다니엘
1장
1 유다 왕 여호야김이 다스린 지 삼 년이 되는 해에 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살이 예루살렘에 이르러 성을 에워쌌더니
1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it.
2 주께서 유다 왕 여호야김과 하나님의 전 그릇 얼마를 그의 손에 넘기시매 그가 그것을 가지고 시날 땅 자기 신들의 신전에 가져다가 그 신들의 보물 창고에 두었더라
2 And the Lord delivered Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, along with some of the articles from the temple of God. These he carried off to the temple of his god in Babylonia and put in the treasure house of his god.
3 왕이 환관장 아스부나스에게 말하여 이스라엘 자손 중에서 왕족과 귀족 몇 사람
3 Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, chief of his court officials, to bring in some of the Israelites from the royal family and the nobility-
4 곧 흠이 없고 용모가 아름다우며 모든 지혜를 통찰하며 지식에 통달하며 학문에 익숙하여 왕궁에 설 만한 소년을 데려오게 하였고 그들에게 갈대아 사람의 학문과 언어를 가르치게 하였고
4 young men without any physical defect, handsome, showing aptitude for every kind of learning, well informed, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king`s palace. He was to teach them the language and literature of the Babylonians.
5 또 왕이 지정하여 그들에게 왕의 음식과 그가 마시는 포도주에서 날마다 쓸 것을 주어 삼 년을 기르게 하였으니 그 후에 그들은 왕 앞에 서게 될 것이더라
5 The king assigned them a daily amount of food and wine from the king`s table. They were to be trained for three years, and after that they were to enter the king`s service.
6 그들 가운데는 유다 자손 곧 다니엘과 하나냐와 미사엘과 아사랴가 있었더니
6 Among these were some from Judah: Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah.
7 환관장이 그들의 이름을 고쳐 다니엘은 벨드사살이라 하고 하나냐는 사드락이라 하고 미사엘은 메삭이라 하고 아사랴는 아벳느고라 하였더라
7 The chief official gave them new names: to Daniel, the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego.
8 다니엘은 뜻을 정하여 왕의 음식과 그가 마시는 포도주로 자기를 더럽히지 아니하리라 하고 자기를 더럽히지 아니하도록 환관장에게 구하니
8 But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.
9 하나님이 다니엘로 하여금 환관장에게 은혜와 긍휼을 얻게 하신지라
9 Now God had caused the official to show favor and sympathy to Daniel,
10 환관장이 다니엘에게 이르되 내가 내 주 왕을 두려워하노라 그가 너희 먹을 것과 너희 마실 것을 지정하셨거늘 너희의 얼굴이 초췌하여 같은 또래의 소년들만 못한 것을 그가 보게 할 것이 무엇이냐 그렇게 되면 너희 때문에 내 머리가 왕 앞에서 위태롭게 되리라 하니라
10 but the official told Daniel, "I am afraid of my lord the king, who has assigned your food and drink. Why should he see you looking worse than the other young men your age? The king would then have my head because of you."
11 환관장이 다니엘과 하나냐와 미사엘과 아사랴를 감독하게 한 자에게 다니엘이 말하되
11 Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah,
12 청하오니 당신의 종들을 열흘 동안 시험하여 채식을 주어 먹게 하고 물을 주어 마시게 한 후에
12 Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink.
13 당신 앞에서 우리의 얼굴과 왕의 음식을 먹는 소년들의 얼굴을 비교하여 보아서 당신이 보는 대로 종들에게 행하소서 하매
13 Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see."
14 그가 그들의 말을 따라 열흘 동안 시험하더니
14 So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days.
15 열흘 후에 그들의 얼굴이 더욱 아름답고 살이 더욱 윤택하여 왕의 음식을 먹는 다른 소년들보다 더 좋아 보인지라
15 At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food.
16 그리하여 감독하는 자가 그들에게 지정된 음식과 마실 포도주를 제하고 채식을 주니라
16 So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables instead.
17 하나님이 이 네 소년에게 학문을 주시고 모든 서적을 깨닫게 하시고 지혜를 주셨으니 다니엘은 또 모든 환상과 꿈을 깨달아 알더라
17 To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds.
18 왕이 말한 대로 그들을 불러들일 기한이 찼으므로 환관장이 그들을 느부갓네살 앞으로 데리고 가니
18 At the end of the time set by the king to bring them in, the chief official presented them to Nebuchadnezzar.
19 왕이 그들과 말하여 보매 무리 중에 다니엘과 하나냐와 미사엘과 아사랴와 같은 자가 없으므로 그들을 왕 앞에 서게 하고
19 The king talked with them, and he found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah; so they entered the king`s service.
20 왕이 그들에게 모든 일을 묻는 중에 그 지혜와 총명이 온 나라 박수와 술객보다 십 배나 나은 줄을 아니라
20 In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom.
21 다니엘은 고레스 왕 원년까지 있으니라
21 And Daniel remained there until the first year of King Cyrus.
베드로전서
3장
8 마지막으로 말하노니 너희가 다 마음을 같이하여 동정하며 형제를 사랑하며 불쌍히 여기며 겸손하며
8 Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.
9 악을 악으로, 욕을 욕으로 갚지 말고 도리어 복을 빌라 이를 위하여 너희가 부르심을 받았으니 이는 복을 이어받게 하려 하심이라
9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.
10 그러므로 생명을 사랑하고 좋은 날 보기를 원하는 자는 혀를 금하여 악한 말을 그치며 그 입술로 거짓을 말하지 말고
10 For, "Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech.
11 악에서 떠나 선을 행하고 화평을 구하며 그것을 따르라
11 He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it.
12 주의 눈은 의인을 향하시고 그의 귀는 의인의 간구에 기울이시되 주의 얼굴은 악행하는 자들을 대하시느니라 하였느니라
12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."
13 또 너희가 열심으로 선을 행하면 누가 너희를 해하리요
13 Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good?
14 그러나 의를 위하여 고난을 받으면 복 있는 자니 그들이 두려워하는 것을 두려워하지 말며 근심하지 말고
14 But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened."
15 너희 마음에 그리스도를 주로 삼아 거룩하게 하고 너희 속에 있는 소망에 관한 이유를 묻는 자에게는 대답할 것을 항상 준비하되 온유와 두려움으로 하고
15 But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,
16 선한 양심을 가지라 이는 그리스도 안에 있는 너희의 선행을 욕하는 자들로 그 비방하는 일에 부끄러움을 당하게 하려 함이라
16 keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
17 선을 행함으로 고난 받는 것이 하나님의 뜻일진대 악을 행함으로 고난 받는 것보다 나으니라
17 It is better, if it is God`s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
18 그리스도께서도 단번에 죄를 위하여 죽으사 의인으로서 불의한 자를 대신하셨으니 이는 우리를 하나님 앞으로 인도하려 하심이라 육체로는 죽임을 당하시고 영으로는 살리심을 받으셨으니
18 For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit,
19 그가 또한 영으로 가서 옥에 있는 영들에게 선포하시니라
19 through whom also he went and preached to the spirits in prison
20 그들은 전에 노아의 날 방주를 준비할 동안 하나님이 오래 참고 기다리실 때에 복종하지 아니하던 자들이라 방주에서 물로 말미암아 구원을 얻은 자가 몇 명뿐이니 겨우 여덟 명이라
20 who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water,
21 물은 예수 그리스도께서 부활하심으로 말미암아 이제 너희를 구원하는 표니 곧 세례라 이는 육체의 더러운 것을 제하여 버림이 아니요 하나님을 향한 선한 양심의 간구니라
21 and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also--not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
22 그는 하늘에 오르사 하나님 우편에 계시니 천사들과 권세들과 능력들이 그에게 복종하느니라
22 who has gone into heaven and is at God`s right hand--with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.
