요한계시록 (Revelation)
17
1 또 일곱 대접을 가진 일곱 천사 중 하나가 와서 내게 말하여 가로되 이리 오라 많은 물위에 앉은 큰 음녀의 받을 심판을 네게 보이리라
1 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me, "Come, I will show you the punishment of the great prostitute, who sits on many waters.
2 땅의 임금들도 그로 더불어 음행하였고 땅에 거하는 자들도 그 음행의 포도주에 취하였다 하고
2 With her the kings of the earth committed adultery and the inhabitants of the earth were intoxicated with the wine of her adulteries."
3 곧 성령으로 나를 데리고 광야로 가니라 내가 보니 여자가 붉은 빛 짐승을 탔는데 그 짐승의 몸에 참람된 이름들이 가득하고 일곱 머리와 열 뿔이 있으며
3 Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit into a desert. There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns.
4 그 여자는 자주 빛과 붉은 빛 옷을 입고 금과 보석과 진주로 꾸미고 손에 금잔을 가졌는데 가증한 물건과 그의 음행의 더러운 것들이 가득하더라
4 The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls. She held a golden cup in her hand, filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries.
5 그 이마에 이름이 기록되었으니 비밀이라, 큰 바벨론이라, 땅의 음녀들과 가증한 것들의 어미라 하였더라
5 This title was written on her forehead: MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT THE MOTHER OF PROSTITUTES AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
6 또 내가 보매 이 여자가 성도들의 피와 예수의 증인들의 피에 취한지라 내가 그 여자를 보고 기이히 여기고 크게 기이히 여기니
6 I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of those who bore testimony to Jesus. When I saw her, I was greatly astonished.
7 천사가 가로되 왜 기이히 여기느냐 내가 여자와 그의 탄바 일곱 머리와 열 뿔 가진 짐승의 비밀을 네게 이르리라
7 Then the angel said to me: "Why are you astonished? I will explain to you the mystery of the woman and of the beast she rides, which has the seven heads and ten horns.
8 네가 본 짐승은 전에 있었다가 시방 없으나 장차 무저갱으로부터 올라와 멸망으로 들어갈 자니 땅에 거하는 자들로서 창세 이후로 생명책에 녹명되지 못한 자들이 이전에 있었다가 시방 없으나 장차 나올 짐승을 보고 기이히 여기리라
8 The beast, which you saw, once was, now is not, and will come up out of the Abyss and go to his destruction. The inhabitants of the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the creation of the world will be astonished when they see the beast, because he once was, now is not, and yet will come.
9 지혜 있는 뜻이 여기 있으니 그 일곱 머리는 여자가 앉은 일곱 산이요
9 This calls for a mind with wisdom. The seven heads are seven hills on which the woman sits.
10 또 일곱 왕이라 다섯은 망하였고 하나는 있고 다른이는 아직 이르지 아니하였으나 이르면 반드시 잠간 동안 계속하리라
10 They are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; but when he does come, he must remain for a little while.
11 전에 있었다가 시방 없어진 짐승은 여덟째 왕이니 일곱 중에 속한 자라 저가 멸망으로 들어가리라
11 The beast who once was, and now is not, is an eighth king. He belongs to the seven and is going to his destruction.
12 네가 보던 열 뿔은 열 왕이니 아직 나라를 얻지 못하였으나 다만 짐승으로 더불어 임금처럼 권세를 일시 동안 받으리라
12 The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but who for one hour will receive authority as kings along with the beast.
13 저희가 한 뜻을 가지고 자기의 능력과 권세를 짐승에게 주더라
13 They have one purpose and will give their power and authority to the beast.
14 저희가 어린 양으로 더불어 싸우려니와 어린 양은 만주의 주시요 만왕의 왕이시므로 저희를 이기실터이요 또 그와 함께 있는 자들 곧 부르심을 입고 빼내심을 얻고 진실한 자들은 이기리로다
14 They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings--and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers."
15 또 천사가 내게 말하되 네가 본바 음녀의 앉은 물은 백성과 무리와 열국과 방언들이니라
15 Then the angel said to me, "The waters you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations and languages.
16 네가 본바 이 열 뿔과 짐승이 음녀를 미워하여 망하게 하고 벌거벗게 하고 그 살을 먹고 불로 아주 사르리라
16 The beast and the ten horns you saw will hate the prostitute. They will bring her to ruin and leave her naked; they will eat her flesh and burn her with fire.
17 하나님이 자기 뜻대로 할 마음을 저희에게 주사 한 뜻을 이루게 하시고 저희 나라를 그 짐승에게 주게 하시되 하나님 말씀이 응하기까지 하심이니라
17 For God has put it into their hearts to accomplish his purpose by agreeing to give the beast their power to rule, until God`s words are fulfilled.
18 또 네가 본바 여자는 땅의 임금들을 다스리는 큰 성이라 하더라
18 The woman you saw is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth."잠언 (Proverbs)
27
1 너는 내일 일을 자랑하지 말라 하루 동안에 무슨 일이 날는지 네가 알 수 없음이니라
1 Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.
2 타인으로 너를 칭찬하게 하고 네 입으로는 말며 외인으로 너를 칭찬하게 하고 네 입술로는 말찌니라
2 Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; someone else, and not your own lips.
3 돌은 무겁고 모래도 가볍지 아니하거니와 미련한 자의 분노는 이 둘보다 무거우니라
3 Stone is heavy and sand a burden, but provocation by a fool is heavier than both.
4 분은 잔인하고 노는 창수 같거니와 투기 앞에야 누가 서리요
4 Anger is cruel and fury overwhelming, but who can stand before jealousy?
5 면책은 숨은 사랑보다 나으니라
5 Better is open rebuke than hidden love.
6 친구의 통책은 충성에서 말미암은 것이나 원수의 자주 입맞춤은 거짓에서 난 것이니라
6 Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.
7 배부른 자는 꿀이라도 싫어하고 주린 자에게는 쓴 것이라도 다니라
7 He who is full loathes honey, but to the hungry even what is bitter tastes sweet.
8 본향을 떠나 유리하는 사람은 보금자리를 떠나 떠도는 새와 같으니라
8 Like a bird that strays from its nest is a man who strays from his home.
9 기름과 향이 사람의 마음을 즐겁게 하나니 친구의 충성된 권고가 이와 같이 아름다우니라
9 Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of one`s friend springs from his earnest counsel.
10 네 친구와 네 아비의 친구를 버리지 말며 네 환난날에 형제의 집에 들어가지 말찌어다 가까운 이웃이 먼 형제보다 나으니라
10 Do not forsake your friend and the friend of your father, and do not go to your brother`s house when disaster strikes you-- better a neighbor nearby than a brother far away.
11 내 아들아 지혜를 얻고 내 마음을 기쁘게 하라 그리하면 나를 비방하는 자에게 내가 대답할 수 있겠노라
11 Be wise, my son, and bring joy to my heart; then I can answer anyone who treats me with contempt.
12 슬기로운 자는 재앙을 보면 숨어 피하여도 어리석은 자들은 나아가다가 해를 받느니라
12 The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.
13 타인을 위하여 보증이 된 자의 옷을 취하라 외인들의 보증이 된 자는 그 몸을 볼모잡힐찌니라
13 Take the garment of one who puts up security for a stranger; hold it in pledge if he does it for a wayward woman.
14 이른 아침에 큰 소리로 그 이웃을 축복하면 도리어 저주 같이 여기게 되리라
14 If a man loudly blesses his neighbor early in the morning, it will be taken as a curse.
15 다투는 부녀는 비오는 날에 이어 떨어지는 물방울이라
15 A quarrelsome wife is like a constant dripping on a rainy day;
16 그를 제어하기가 바람을 제어하는 것 같고 오른손으로 기름을 움키는 것 같으니라
16 restraining her is like restraining the wind or grasping oil with the hand.
17 철이 철을 날카롭게 하는 것 같이 사람이 그 친구의 얼굴을 빛나게 하느니라
17 As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.
18 무화과나무를 지키는 자는 그 과실을 먹고 자기 주인을 시종하는 자는 영화를 얻느니라
18 He who tends a fig tree will eat its fruit, and he who looks after his master will be honored.
19 물에 비취이면 얼굴이 서로 같은 것 같이 사람의 마음도 서로 비취느니라
19 As water reflects a face, so a man`s heart reflects the man.
20 음부와 유명은 만족함이 없고 사람의 눈도 만족함이 없느니라
20 Death and Destruction are never satisfied, and neither are the eyes of man.
21 도가니로 은을, 풀무로 금을, 칭찬으로 사람을 시련하느니라
21 The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but man is tested by the praise he receives.
22 미련한 자를 곡물과 함께 절구에 넣고 공이로 찧을찌라도 그의 미련은 벗어지지 아니하느니라
22 Though you grind a fool in a mortar, grinding him like grain with a pestle, you will not remove his folly from him.
23 네 양떼의 형편을 부지런히 살피며 네 소떼에 마음을 두라
23 Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds;
24 대저 재물은 영영히 있지 못하나니 면류관이 어찌 대대에 있으랴
24 for riches do not endure forever, and a crown is not secure for all generations.
25 풀을 벤 후에는 새로 움이 돋나니 산에서 꼴을 거둘 것이니라
25 When the hay is removed and new growth appears and the grass from the hills is gathered in,
26 어린 양의 털은 네 옷이 되며 염소는 밭을 사는 값이 되며
26 the lambs will provide you with clothing, and the goats with the price of a field.
27 염소의 젖은 넉넉하여 너와 네 집 사람의 식물이 되며 네 여종의 먹을 것이 되느니라
27 You will have plenty of goats` milk to feed you and your family and to nourish your servant girls.
