18장
1 많은 날이 지나고 제삼년에 여호와의 말씀이 엘리야에게 임하여 이르시되 너는 가서 아합에게 보이라 내가 비를 지면에 내리리라
1 After many days the word of theLordcame to Elijah, in the third year, saying,Go, show yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain upon the earth.
2 엘리야가 아합에게 보이려고 가니 그 때에 사마리아에 기근이 심하였더라
2 So Elijah went to show himself to Ahab. Now the famine was severe in Samaria.
3 아합이 왕궁 맡은 자 오바댜를 불렀으니 이 오바댜는 여호와를 지극히 경외하는 자라
3 And Ahab called Obadiah, who wasover the household. (Now Obadiah feared theLordgreatly,
4 이세벨이 여호와의 선지자들을 멸할 때에 오바댜가 선지자 백 명을 가지고 오십 명씩 굴에 숨기고 떡과 물을 먹였더라
4 andwhen Jezebel cut off the prophets of theLord, Obadiah took a hundred prophets and hid them by fifties in a cave and fed them with bread and water.)
5 아합이 오바댜에게 이르되 이 땅의 모든 물 근원과 모든 내로 가자 혹시 꼴을 얻으리라 그리하면 말과 노새를 살리리니 짐승을 다 잃지 않게 되리라 하고
5 And Ahab said to Obadiah,Go through the land to all the springs of water and to all the valleys. Perhaps we may find grass and save the horses and mules alive, and not lose some of the animals.
6 두 사람이 두루 다닐 땅을 나누어 아합은 홀로 이 길로 가고 오바댜는 홀로 저 길로 가니라
6 So they divided the land between them to pass through it. Ahab went in one direction by himself, and Obadiah went in another direction by himself.
7 오바댜가 길에 있을 때에 엘리야가 그를 만난지라 그가 알아보고 엎드려 말하되 내 주 엘리야여 당신이시니이까
7 And as Obadiah was on the way, behold, Elijah met him. And Obadiah recognized him and fell on his face and said,Is it you, my lord Elijah?
8 그가 그에게 대답하되 그러하다 가서 네 주에게 말하기를 엘리야가 여기 있다 하라
8 And he answered him,It is I. Go, tell your lord,Behold, Elijah is here.
9 이르되 내가 무슨 죄를 범하였기에 당신이 당신의 종을 아합의 손에 넘겨 죽이게 하려 하시나이까
9 And he said,How have I sinned, that you would give your servant into the hand of Ahab, to kill me?
10 당신의 하나님 여호와께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니 내 주께서 사람을 보내어 당신을 찾지 아니한 족속이나 나라가 없었는데 그들이 말하기를 엘리야가 없다 하면 그 나라와 그 족속으로 당신을 보지 못하였다는 맹세를 하게 하였거늘
10 As theLordyour God lives, there is no nation or kingdom where my lord has not sent to seek you. And when they would say,He is not here,he would take an oath of the kingdom or nation, that they had not found you.
11 이제 당신의 말씀이 가서 네 주에게 말하기를 엘리야가 여기 있다 하라 하시나
11 And now you say,Go, tell your lord,Behold, Elijah is here.
12 내가 당신을 떠나간 후에 여호와의 영이 내가 알지 못하는 곳으로 당신을 이끌어 가시리니 내가 가서 아합에게 말하였다가 그가 당신을 찾지 못하면 내가 죽임을 당하리이다 당신의 종은 어려서부터 여호와를 경외하는 자라
12 And as soon as I have gone from you,the Spirit of theLordwill carry you I know not where. And so, when I come and tell Ahab and he cannot find you, he will kill me, although I your servant have feared theLordfrom my youth.
13 이세벨이 여호와의 선지자들을 죽일 때에 내가 여호와의 선지자 중에 백 명을 오십 명씩 굴에 숨기고 떡과 물로 먹인 일이 내 주에게 들리지 아니하였나이까
13 Has it not been told my lord what I didwhen Jezebel killed the prophets of theLord, how I hid a hundred men of theLord's prophets by fifties in a cave and fed them with bread and water?
14 이제 당신의 말씀이 가서 네 주에게 말하기를 엘리야가 여기 있다 하라 하시니 그리하면 그가 나를 죽이리이다
14 And now you say,Go, tell your lord,Behold, Elijah is here; and he will kill me.
15 엘리야가 이르되 내가 섬기는 만군의 여호와께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니 내가 오늘 아합에게 보이리라
15 And Elijah said,As theLordof hosts lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself to him today.
16 오바댜가 가서 아합을 만나 그에게 말하매 아합이 엘리야를 만나러 가다가
16 So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him. And Ahab went to meet Elijah.
17 엘리야를 볼 때에 아합이 그에게 이르되 이스라엘을 괴롭게 하는 자여 너냐
17 When Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him,Is it you, youtroubler of Israel?
18 그가 대답하되 내가 이스라엘을 괴롭게 한 것이 아니라 당신과 당신의 아버지의 집이 괴롭게 하였으니 이는 여호와의 명령을 버렸고 당신이 바알들을 따랐음이라
18 And he answered,I have not troubled Israel, but you have, and your father's house, because you haveabandoned the commandments of theLordandfollowed the Baals.
19 그런즉 사람을 보내 온 이스라엘과 이세벨의 상에서 먹는 바알의 선지자 사백오십 명과 아세라의 선지자 사백 명을 갈멜 산으로 모아 내게로 나아오게 하소서
19 Now therefore send and gather all Israel to me at MountCarmel, and the450 prophets of Baal andthe 400 prophets of Asherah,who eat at Jezebel's table.
20 아합이 이에 이스라엘의 모든 자손에게로 사람을 보내 선지자들을 갈멜 산으로 모으니라
20 So Ahab sent to all the people of Israel and gathered the prophets together at Mount Carmel.
21 엘리야가 모든 백성에게 가까이 나아가 이르되 너희가 어느 때까지 둘 사이에서 머뭇머뭇 하려느냐 여호와가 만일 하나님이면 그를 따르고 바알이 만일 하나님이면 그를 따를지니라 하니 백성이 말 한마디도 대답하지 아니하는지라
21 And Elijah came near to all the people and said,How longwill you go limping between two different opinions?If theLordis God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.And the people did not answer him a word.
22 엘리야가 백성에게 이르되 여호와의 선지자는 나만 홀로 남았으나 바알의 선지자는 사백오십 명이로다
22 Then Elijah said to the people,I, even I only, am left a prophet of theLord, but Baal's prophets are450 men.
23 그런즉 송아지 둘을 우리에게 가져오게 하고 그들은 송아지 한 마리를 택하여 각을 떠서 나무 위에 놓고 불은 붙이지 말며 나도 송아지 한 마리를 잡아 나무 위에 놓고 불은 붙이지 않고
23 Let two bulls be given to us, and let them choose one bull for themselves and cut it in pieces and lay it on the wood, but put no fire to it. And I will prepare the other bull and lay it on the wood and put no fire to it.
24 너희는 너희 신의 이름을 부르라 나는 여호와의 이름을 부르리니 이에 불로 응답하는 신 그가 하나님이니라 백성이 다 대답하되 그 말이 옳도다 하니라
24 And you call upon the name of your god, and I will call upon the name of theLord, and the God whoanswers by fire, he is God.And all the people answered,It is well spoken.사도행전
11장
1 유대에 있는 사도들과 형제들이 이방인들도 하나님의 말씀을 받았다 함을 들었더니
1 Now the apostles andthe brotherswho were throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God.
2 베드로가 예루살렘에 올라갔을 때에 할례자들이 비난하여
2 So when Peter went up to Jerusalem,the circumcision partycriticized him, saying,
3 이르되 네가 무할례자의 집에 들어가 함께 먹었다 하니
3 You went to uncircumcised men andate with them.
4 베드로가 그들에게 이 일을 차례로 설명하여
4 But Peter began and explained it to them in order:
5 이르되 내가 욥바 시에서 기도할 때에 황홀한 중에 환상을 보니 큰 보자기 같은 그릇이 네 귀에 매어 하늘로부터 내리어 내 앞에까지 드리워지거늘
5 I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision, something like a great sheet descending, being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came down to me.
6 이것을 주목하여 보니 땅에 네 발 가진 것과 들짐승과 기는 것과 공중에 나는 것들이 보이더라
6 Looking at it closely, I observed animals and beasts of prey and reptiles and birds of the air.
7 또 들으니 소리 있어 내게 이르되 베드로야 일어나 잡아 먹으라 하거늘
7 And I heard a voice saying to me,Rise, Peter; kill and eat.
8 내가 이르되 주님 그럴 수 없나이다 속되거나 깨끗하지 아니한 것은 결코 내 입에 들어간 일이 없나이다 하니
8 But I said,By no means, Lord; for nothing common or unclean has ever entered my mouth.
9 또 하늘로부터 두 번째 소리 있어 내게 이르되 하나님이 깨끗하게 하신 것을 네가 속되다고 하지 말라 하더라
9 But the voice answered a second time from heaven,What God has made clean, do not call common.
10 이런 일이 세 번 있은 후에 모든 것이 다시 하늘로 끌려 올라가더라
10 This happened three times, and all was drawn up again into heaven.
11 마침 세 사람이 내가 유숙한 집 앞에 서 있으니 가이사랴에서 내게로 보낸 사람이라
11 And behold, at that very moment three men arrived at the house in which we were, sent to me from Caesarea.
12 성령이 내게 명하사 아무 의심 말고 함께 가라 하시매 이 여섯 형제도 나와 함께 가서 그 사람의 집에 들어가니
12 And the Spirit told me to go with them,making no distinction.These six brothers also accompanied me, and we entered the man's house.
13 그가 우리에게 말하기를 천사가 내 집에 서서 말하되 네가 사람을 욥바에 보내어 베드로라 하는 시몬을 청하라
13 And he told us how he had seen the angel stand in his house and say,Send to Joppa and bring Simon who is called Peter;
14 그가 너와 네 온 집이 구원 받을 말씀을 네게 이르리라 함을 보았다 하거늘
14 he will declare to you a message by whichyou will be saved, you and all your household.
15 내가 말을 시작할 때에 성령이 그들에게 임하시기를 처음 우리에게 하신 것과 같이 하는지라
15 As I began to speak,the Holy Spirit fell on themjust as on us at the beginning.
16 내가 주의 말씀에 요한은 물로 세례를 베풀었으나 너희는 성령으로 세례를 받으리라 하신 것이 생각났노라
16 And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said,John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.
17 그런즉 하나님이 우리가 주 예수 그리스도를 믿을 때에 주신 것과 같은 선물을 그들에게도 주셨으니 내가 누구이기에 하나님을 능히 막겠느냐 하더라
17 If thenGod gavethe same gift to them as he gave to uswhen we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ,who was Ithat I could stand in God's way?
18 그들이 이 말을 듣고 잠잠하여 하나님께 영광을 돌려 이르되 그러면 하나님께서 이방인에게도 생명 얻는 회개를 주셨도다 하니라
18 When they heard these things they fell silent. And theyglorified God, saying,Then to the Gentiles also God hasgrantedrepentance that leads to life.
