18장
25 엘리야가 바알의 선지자들에게 이르되 너희는 많으니 먼저 송아지 한 마리를 택하여 잡고 너희 신의 이름을 부르라 그러나 불을 붙이지 말라
25 Then Elijah said to the prophets of Baal,Choose for yourselves one bull and prepare it first, for you are many, and call upon the name of your god, but put no fire to it.
26 그들이 받은 송아지를 가져다가 잡고 아침부터 낮까지 바알의 이름을 불러 이르되 바알이여 우리에게 응답하소서 하나 아무 소리도 없고 아무 응답하는 자도 없으므로 그들이 그 쌓은 제단 주위에서 뛰놀더라
26 And they took the bull that was given them, and they prepared it and called upon the name of Baal from morning until noon, saying,O Baal, answer us!But there was no voice, and no one answered. And they limped around the altar that they had made.
27 정오에 이르러는 엘리야가 그들을 조롱하여 이르되 큰 소리로 부르라 그는 신인즉 묵상하고 있는지 혹은 그가 잠깐 나갔는지 혹은 그가 길을 행하는지 혹은 그가 잠이 들어서 깨워야 할 것인지 하매
27 And at noon Elijah mocked them, saying,Cry aloud, for he is a god. Either he is musing, or he is relieving himself, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is asleep and must be awakened.
28 이에 그들이 큰 소리로 부르고 그들의 규례를 따라 피가 흐르기까지 칼과 창으로 그들의 몸을 상하게 하더라
28 And they cried aloud andcut themselves after their custom with swords and lances, until the blood gushed out upon them.
29 이같이 하여 정오가 지났고 그들이 미친 듯이 떠들어 저녁 소제 드릴 때까지 이르렀으나 아무 소리도 없고 응답하는 자나 돌아보는 자가 아무도 없더라
29 And as midday passed, they raved on until the time ofthe offering of the oblation, but there was no voice. No one answered; no one paid attention.
30 엘리야가 모든 백성을 향하여 이르되 내게로 가까이 오라 백성이 다 그에게 가까이 가매 그가 무너진 여호와의 제단을 수축하되
30 Then Elijah said to all the people,Come near to me.And all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of theLordthat had beenthrown down.
31 야곱의 아들들의 지파의 수효를 따라 엘리야가 돌 열두 개를 취하니 이 야곱은 옛적에 여호와의 말씀이 임하여 이르시기를 네 이름을 이스라엘이라 하리라 하신 자더라
31 Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of theLordcame, saying,Israel shall be your name,
32 그가 여호와의 이름을 의지하여 그 돌로 제단을 쌓고 제단을 돌아가며 곡식 종자 두 세아를 둘 만한 도랑을 만들고
32 and with the stones he built an altar in the name of theLord. And he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two seahsof seed.
33 또 나무를 벌이고 송아지의 각을 떠서 나무 위에 놓고 이르되 통 넷에 물을 채워다가 번제물과 나무 위에 부으라 하고
33 And he put the wood in order and cut the bull in pieces and laid it on the wood. And he said,Fill four jars with water andpour it on the burnt offering and on the wood.
34 또 이르되 다시 그리하라 하여 다시 그리하니 또 이르되 세 번째로 그리하라 하여 세 번째로 그리하니
34 And he said,Do it a second time.And they did it a second time. And he said,Do it a third time.And they did it a third time.
35 물이 제단으로 두루 흐르고 도랑에도 물이 가득 찼더라
35 And the water ran around the altar and filled the trench also with water.
36 저녁 소제 드릴 때에 이르러 선지자 엘리야가 나아가서 말하되 아브라함과 이삭과 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와여 주께서 이스라엘 중에서 하나님이신 것과 내가 주의 종인 것과 내가 주의 말씀대로 이 모든 일을 행하는 것을 오늘 알게 하옵소서
36 And at the time ofthe offering of the oblation, Elijah the prophet came near and said,OLord,God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day thatyou are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and thatI have done all these things at your word.
37 여호와여 내게 응답하옵소서 내게 응답하옵소서 이 백성에게 주 여호와는 하나님이신 것과 주는 그들의 마음을 되돌이키심을 알게 하옵소서 하매
37 Answer me, OLord, answer me, that this people may know that you, OLord, are God, and that you have turned their hearts back.
38 이에 여호와의 불이 내려서 번제물과 나무와 돌과 흙을 태우고 또 도랑의 물을 핥은지라
38 Then the fire of theLordfell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.
39 모든 백성이 보고 엎드려 말하되 여호와 그는 하나님이시로다 여호와 그는 하나님이시로다 하니
39 And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces and said,TheLord, he is God; theLord, he is God.
40 엘리야가 그들에게 이르되 바알의 선지자를 잡되 그들 중 하나도 도망하지 못하게 하라 하매 곧 잡은지라 엘리야가 그들을 기손 시내로 내려다가 거기서 죽이니라
40 And Elijah said to them,Seize the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape.And they seized them. And Elijah brought them down tothe brook Kishon andslaughtered them there.
41 엘리야가 아합에게 이르되 올라가서 먹고 마시소서 큰 비 소리가 있나이다
41 And Elijah said to Ahab,Go up, eat and drink, for there is a sound of the rushing of rain.
42 아합이 먹고 마시러 올라가니라 엘리야가 갈멜 산 꼭대기로 올라가서 땅에 꿇어 엎드려 그의 얼굴을 무릎 사이에 넣고
42 So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Mount Carmel.And he bowed himself down on the earth and put his face between his knees.
43 그의 사환에게 이르되 올라가 바다쪽을 바라보라 그가 올라가 바라보고 말하되 아무것도 없나이다 이르되 일곱 번까지 다시 가라
43 And he said to his servant,Go up now, look toward the sea.And he went up and looked and said,There is nothing.And he said,Go again,seven times.
44 일곱 번째 이르러서는 그가 말하되 바다에서 사람의 손 만한 작은 구름이 일어나나이다 이르되 올라가 아합에게 말하기를 비에 막히지 아니하도록 마차를 갖추고 내려가소서 하라 하니라
44 And at the seventh time he said,Behold,a little cloud like a man's hand is rising from the sea.And he said,Go up, say to Ahab,Prepare your chariot and go down, lest the rain stop you.
45 조금 후에 구름과 바람이 일어나서 하늘이 캄캄해지며 큰 비가 내리는지라 아합이 마차를 타고 이스르엘로 가니
45 And in a little while the heavens grew black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode and went toJezreel.
46 여호와의 능력이 엘리야에게 임하매 그가 허리를 동이고 이스르엘로 들어가는 곳까지 아합 앞에서 달려갔더라
46 And the hand of theLordwas on Elijah,and he gathered up his garment and ran before Ahab to the entrance ofJezreel.사도행전
11장
19 그 때에 스데반의 일로 일어난 환난으로 말미암아 흩어진 자들이 베니게와 구브로와 안디옥까지 이르러 유대인에게만 말씀을 전하는데
19 Now those who were scattered because of the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except Jews.
20 그 중에 구브로와 구레네 몇 사람이 안디옥에 이르러 헬라인에게도 말하여 주 예수를 전파하니
20 But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who on coming to Antioch spoke to the Hellenistsalso,preaching the Lord Jesus.
21 주의 손이 그들과 함께 하시매 수많은 사람들이 믿고 주께 돌아오더라
21 Andthe hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number who believedturned to the Lord.
22 예루살렘 교회가 이 사람들의 소문을 듣고 바나바를 안디옥까지 보내니
22 The report of this came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to Antioch.
23 그가 이르러 하나님의 은혜를 보고 기뻐하여 모든 사람에게 굳건한 마음으로 주와 함께 머물러 있으라 권하니
23 When he came and sawthe grace of God, he was glad, and he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lordwith steadfast purpose,
24 바나바는 착한 사람이요 성령과 믿음이 충만한 사람이라 이에 큰 무리가 주께 더하여지더라
24 for he was a good man,full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many peoplewere added to the Lord.
25 바나바가 사울을 찾으러 다소에 가서
25 So Barnabas went toTarsus to look for Saul,
26 만나매 안디옥에 데리고 와서 둘이 교회에 일 년간 모여 있어 큰 무리를 가르쳤고 제자들이 안디옥에서 비로소 그리스도인이라 일컬음을 받게 되었더라
26 and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year they met with the church and taught a great many people. And in Antioch the disciples were first calledChristians.
27 그 때에 선지자들이 예루살렘에서 안디옥에 이르니
27 Now in these daysprophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch.
28 그 중에 아가보라 하는 한 사람이 일어나 성령으로 말하되 천하에 큰 흉년이 들리라 하더니 글라우디오 때에 그렇게 되니라
28 And one of them namedAgabus stood up and foretoldby the Spirit that there would be a greatfamine over all the world (this took place in the days ofClaudius).
29 제자들이 각각 그 힘대로 유대에 사는 형제들에게 부조를 보내기로 작정하고
29 So the disciples determined, every one according to his ability,to send relief tothe brothersliving in Judea.
30 이를 실행하여 바나바와 사울의 손으로 장로들에게 보내니라
30 And they did so, sending it tothe elders by the hand of Barnabas and Saul.
